DO NOT, bring your loved ones here please. They don’t care about their patients at all. Everytime i visit the nurses are all over the place, the other patients all in the hallway asleep in wheelchairs, and not to mention the place is dull. I feel so bad for the patients who have to put up with these people. This place needs to be shut down, they don’t care about their patients and it shows.

This facility seems disorganized. An incident developed that resulted in an overdose of “10 times” my father’s prescribed dosage, so my father was taken to a hospital. They never called to notify the day of the incident. I found out by chance when calling my father to ask about his lunch and the emergency transport relayed details while they were setting up the gurney. I did get a very vague call asking for self help capabilities and given vague details for why they were calling with no identification given and just saying that they were wanting to know what n order to set up a place for him to stay. Not saying that he was being transported to a hospital or who they work for. This particular call came in prior to me calling to check on his meal. I did correct them and said that he was already at a facility and they quickly wrapped the call. Just saying that they were collecting some info.

I called to speak with a social worker on day 1 and was told to call back as they were in a meeting. Called back and the call was picked up and promptly put on hold without any words spoken from their end. Called back and my info was taken as the social worker was busy at the time and I didn’t receive a call back, so I called back again near 5pm and they were already gone. I pressed for a higher authority to get more details on what happened to my father. The gentleman they got to the phone had confirmed 10 times the prescribed dosage was given and apologized for a lack of action taken to inform me. Confirmed that the social workers had all left for home as said he was shocked that this incident played out as it did.

Next day was a call from the hospital before this facility managed to call me. The hospital expressed an apology for this situation. Later I received a call from a staff member of Long Beach Healthcare Center who manages their medical staff and was given further apologies for this situation as they understood that the ball was dropped on informing the dementia patient’s immediate family. Fortunately the VA has taken action to relocate to an alternate facility.

Other issues here included leaving multi days old food beside their bed and the patient would continue eating from it. Some food exceeded a week and included dairy. Had to inform the staff twice to get corrected. The staff on several occasions would confuse him with another patient and relay incorrect health information and even pressed that the patient did not have dementia, can walk just fine without a walker as well as tell me that he was in the hospital when he was still resting in his bed in his assigned room.

The phone staff would place me on hold for 8+ mins without updates until I ultimately disconnected to called back. Often trying to predict what the caller was saying in order to reach what they felt was the goal of the call. Active listening was a genuine problem when calling. Other problems included placing on hold and having 1-2 other staff members greeting the call as though they were answering a new call. Lots of issues with this facility.

In closing, I was told that their medical staff was restructured very recently, so I hope that things improve for current and future residents/patients of this facility. It’s been 5 days and I still haven’t heard back from a social worker or my email. I’ve already collected his belongings when the hospital discharged him and transported him to an alternate facility, but I can’t reach them over the phone as it just rings. Hopefully I’ve collected all of his clothing as I’m unsure if he had anything being washed. Some clothes seem missing and his closet there had a few soiled garments which included undergarments.

If I could give a 0 for a review I would. If you care about your loved one DO NOT send them here! No personal belongs are safe or sacred in this place and if your person has money on them, they wont for long. My person can and should get up and walk to the bathroom, but instead there is always a full urinal next to his bed, and he was wearing somebody else's clothes and his were gone!! And dont get me started about the staff caring in your face, but neglecting when your gone, plus they never have an answer for anything. This is not a place of "health" and "care".

Some workers/CNAs are super great but very few are great. If your family member is dependent and has dementia DO NOT send them to this facility. They are awful!!! They might check once every four hours if at all. The food looks like they find whatever they can get their hands on and feed them. If there are more good reviews on here than bad reviews, I guarantee you that those reviews are fake!!! This place is just stealing money from the state because they do not care about those who depend on them for daily necessities. I wish I could give a zero because one is too high.

This is a horrible place to place your loved one. The staff is incompetent and always angry. There is no attentiveness to patience needs and my brother nearly died in there. I'm reporting this facility to the state for lack of skills, filthy, having nurses from the registry working that did not know where any medical equipment was to help my brother breath, and more. It's just horrible pls do not take your loved one or a dog to this place.

When my father was first transferred to LongBeach Healthcare center , my sisters and I went to their reviews and they were so bad that my sisters and I tried to moved him somewhere else.. 3 days after I was approved a visitation day and time for my dad, I was so excited to go see him at this new facility we never been to but wanted to go so bad because of the bad reviews. On June 10,2022 (Friday) I went to visit him, when I got there to his room there was a nurse with him, she was giving him many pills at once (like 5 or 6) I thought she knew what she was doing and didn’t say anything. I left the canter around 5:10pm and my dad had fallen sleep. I left so that he can rest . Around 8:00 my sister calls me saying she got a phone call from the center saying my dad was not responding. I headed overthere and when I get there around 9:20, they tell me my dad had passed away at 9:16 SOMETHING WENT WRONG OVERTHERE at the facility. When I went to see him my dad saw me and we were talking until he fell sleep
LongBeach Healthcare Center did something to my father to make him pass away, even the patients there were yelling saying that my father was the 2 nd or 3 rd person to die that same day, that they did something to my father to kill him… PLEASE DONT SEND YOUR LOVE ONES TO THIS HEALTHCARE CENTER it’s a really BAD PLACE… now my father is deceased.

I arrived and was greeted by a receptionist in the lobby. With a warm smilr she provided me with the directions and details to get to my visit. The halls were clean, and free of trash and trays. The staff appeared friendly and helpful. I noticed there were no board with the names of the RN, LVN, CNA, and doctor for the day. Usually fresh water is passed out, I did not see no water pitcher or cup near bedside. I hope this infomation will be helpful and it will help the other visitors in the near future as well.
