I want to acknowledge the two outstanding employees of the MRI Department. Michelle and Vicki they were just amazing to interact with during my MRI. Michelle projected in her demeanor total confidence and made me feel positive and in good hands. A feeling that calmed my nervous energy. Vicki was the other half of the team. Her happy go lucky interaction with me was welcoming. She has a gift of making you feel stress free. A sense of calm in a friendly kind of way. I am so thankful to have met Michelle and Vicki. I congratulate the VA for two great hires. Having these two who provide such a positive interaction. Will make any veteran feel we are in good hands. Respectfully Angel Sanchez

That one star is my evaluation of the psych department at the VA only. I had my toes all amputated on my left foot March of 2021 and I tried to get help from the psych Department I went to McClellan and saw a woman named Vicky coffee or something like that I want to call her Karen because she fits the pattern of that. I sat there and explained the situation that I was going through and she said oh that's too bad here's a paper maybe this will help and she gave me a list of phone numbers to call yeah it's probably there less than 10 minutes before she booted me out of the McCullen Clinic. Besides have my toes amputated I have some legal issues that have mounted on me like carrying an elephant and it's related to my nursing license. I saved somebody's life but the company that I was working for has been trying to hang me through the California nursing board and the AG office. I have been going over this trial for more than 13 months now. And now I'm facing the judicial system coming from the capitol to hang me because they have money for an attorney and I don't. It's Maxim Healthcare who is going after my throat because I had to work without some of the medical equipment that they were supposed to have provided. They did not provide a backboard and they were not did not provide oxygen Deliverance methods when I was trying to save somebody's life. I saved the person long enough to be transported by the ambulance to the local hospital and he lived for 24 hours. I'm going to meet with all these people on some sort of Zoom meeting on the 6th and 7th of January. I had called the sooner the side hotline a few times because I was getting pushed over the edge and the VA psych department is so freaking backwards it's insane. I know I know nobody will read this and care, but I had to say these things..I have been aware of medications to us for depression that is not harmful to the body and the medication I came up with is the medication Zoloft. And basically every turn these people chuckleheads at psych unit or not compliant to helping me and I'm educated in the area that they are trying to specialize in. I can see why many veterans commit suicide it's because they have an algorithm that they go by and it is not considerate of the veterans in the community. Finally I had an RN from the site Department call me and give me a song and dance about the Zoloft and I just told her I had had it after 3 years of their crap it's no wonder it's no wonder that veterans commit suicide and other things because we are not handled in a considerate manner in any way. The VAs cardiology dept does a superior job..ALL of the other departments are awesome. I have been a licensed nurse in the state of California for 30 years so I've been around quite a bit and I seen a lot and prior to that I had been an EMT and a phlebotomist. So I've been around quite a bit..The psych Department is aa canc.A guy named Brian is another paracyte..

While the one appointment I had at this facility was good, my next appointment was rescheduled, and I had to wait. It took twice as long to get there and ended up a few minutes late. They canceled my appointment and canceled my next two appointments. I can't get care again until February.
Parking, like others said, is really bad. It's like all the staff park there.
Patient care is not the number one priority.

The staff and care team here are very friendly and knowledgeable, I'd even say fantastic. The only reason I'd like to give 3 stars is due to the registration check in desk at the ER. Twice, I've had to bring my significant other to the ER for different reasons at night. The first time, we waited at the desk to be checked in for a good couple of minutes while the 2 staff members chatted about their personal lives and then we were acknowledged. The second time, we stood at the desk and it took us a total of 9 minutes to be addressed by a Receptionist sitting right in front of us and even had a slight tone like we had bothered her. I'm not one to go out of my way to bad mouth anything but this second time around really irked me. Otherwise great hospital and team.

Dr Bach and the entire team in surgery treated me like a VIP, i was seen right on my appointments times, everyone communicated with me and each other in front of me , all very reassuring. My pre OP was scheduled swiftly. the options were explained thoroughly, all my questions were addressed and a plan was chosen.
Surgery got me in again quickly and Dr Bach performed my operation and i am almost completely healed 3 weeks later.
i did not have a driver and im from out of town and Dr Bach arranged that i was given a room for the night and i want to say i wanted to stay a few more nights and make it a vacation i got treated so good.
Thank you VA Mather

Upon entering the ER, I was greeted by the staff in a warm welcome. They provide rapid COVID testing when you get inside.

The hospital bed was comfortable. Each room has a sink, some chairs and a tv with a stuck channel of squiggly lines and it won’t stop beeping.

Overall, I would recommend this hospital for others to stay at.

No pets allowed.

I would love to give them a negative rating score! Unfortunately it is not possible! Some of the doctors were ok. I think that jail is not much different than the hospital at Mather VA! Avoid this hell hole!

I go there all the time. For the most part, excellent service. The Pharmacy assistant named Jeff is fantastic. He is a military veteran himself and is sympathetic towards patients and understanding. Very patient dude. There is another idiot there that wears this stupid mask, even though he is behind a glass shield. He is very difficult to understand and with the mask it is nearly impossible to communicate with him. Despite this, this narcissist refuses to remove the mask so you can understand him. Other than that, not a bad wait time if you go early. If you go after 10 am you might be there over an hour. They don’t have enough staff and are busy. They do a good job getting people in and out despite limited resources.
