I have been a patient at Med Center for over 30 years. The doctors and staff have seen me thru several issues: from the flu to cancer, and was 100% there for me everytime. I highly recommend Med Center, whether you are a drop in, or have an appointment. Yes, you might wait a bit if you simply drop in, but I've always been treated with respect, and a quick referral when needed. I will continue to be a patient there, even if I have to travel to do so.

I recently had gone to Med Center due to my work insurance being cancelled. Being diagnosed ADHD and on the prescription Ritalin, I was concerned about what to do until my new insurance comes through my new job. I had called Med Center and informed the front desk nurse of my problem, she assured me they could help with a refill as long as I brought the bottle in for verification. She then transferred me to another nurse who repeated the same instructions. I arrived the next day, checked in and filled out paperwork. I was also informed I would need to pay $98 in advance for my visit, which I did with my debit card. The office was relatively clean and comfortable with the exception of a clogged toilet which was brought to their attention by a young child there with he grandfather.

I was called back, and after taking my vitals, the initial nurse asked me why I was here. I explained again what the situation was, informed her that I was here as a customer because of the assurances I was given over the phone, and produced the bottle for the medication. She took her notes and left. Approximately ten minutes later a doctor named either Alicia or Amber I believe(She never introduced herself but I believe that one of them was the name on her lapel) came in and immediately things changed. She first asked if I was out of medication, I said yes, that I had taken my last dose this morning. She then proceeded to look to a calendar and count aloud how many days it had been since my prescription had last been filled at Kaiser. I can only assume she realized that this would be day 30 since the last fill, since she never said another word about it. What she did do was proceed to tilt my head back and look into my nostrils using a utensil. I didn't truly understand why that happened until later that night when I was still trying to peice together what had happened. She was looking for evidence of drug abuse and signs that I was actually snorting my medication.

The visit concluded when Alicia or Amber said in a short and somewhat rude manner that they could give me the refill but the clinic administrator must see me or be present first since it is a controlled substance. Apparently he is only there Monday through Wednesday, so she sent me back up front and gave the receptionist some hushed and secretive instructions that made me feel quite uncomfortable and seemed very strange to me as well as others in line, one of which made the comment-"Umm, hello? We are paying customers here".

I was then scheduled an appointment for October 10th, which is 32 days away and by that time my new insurance will be active through my current employer(something I was also sure to explain to them). When I asked what the appointment was for, the receptionist responded saying that would be my appointment with the clinic administrator in regard to filling my prescription. At this point, the doctor I had seen had dissappeared to the back without a word and had left me with a somewhat new receptionist who had a line growing behind me(One woman in a kneebrace who had just been prescribed another controlled substance by Med Center, somewhat contradicting her previous assertion). Feeling very unwelcome, and not wanting to take up others time since they closed in just over an hour, I took the slip and left.

Truthfully, I am very sad and confused by the treatment I was given here. It seems that I was assumed to be an addict and was treated as such despite having been legally taking this medication for years and simply looking for a temporary solution after being dropped by my work coverage. I am a hard working man who was nothing but polite, courteous and efficient in my research and introductory steps leading to Med Center. It appears I paid just under a hundred dollars for someone to check my vitals, and another to remind me that people do abuse drugs, and those that do not must suffer as a result.

They are all over the place here. The two receptionists working at the front desk were arguing and they kept calling people that had already been seen or walked out. I watched everyone else get called and still sat in the waiting room for what seemed to be a slow afternoon. Nobody knew what was going on and I watched multiple people ask for paperwork that they seemed to have lost They also couldn't figure out how to use a shared policy insurance card, which even I get. The lock on the bathroom door doesn't work so don't use the bathroom unless you want to get walked in on.
Go to Med7 on Manzanita, more of a wait but way more useful.

This office was assigned by my son's new insurance as his primary care physician. I took him to an appt today to get his medical records and prescriptions transferred. I thought it was strange that they weren't a pediatrics office but they took my co-pay and brought us to an exam room. When the physician's assistant came into the room she told me that she could not be his PCP and that we needed to find a pediatrics office. I asked for my co-pay back since they rejected him as a patient and they wouldn't give it back! They said they had to keep it since they have to bill the insurance. I'm a medical biller though so I know that they could have just no charged the visit and refunded me my money. Why didn't someone say something to us before they even took my co-pay Ridiculous.

Since they now make you come in for an office visit to refill prescriptions, plan on burning a couple of hours, getting angry and leaving before you leave frustrated and without your diabetes meds. What a great way to get health care! So sick of this places policies. Jasmine is the only bright spot in the place.

This is a terrible place. I have been going here for 15 months due to a work related injury. In that time, the following has been accomplished:
1. Day 1. Diagnosed with hernia.
2. Over a month later, hernia verified.
3. 6 months later, after constant prodding, surgery for the hernia.
4. Pain continues and worsens for months before they finally are motivated, by me, to test.
5. Problem is found with 2 lower vertebra. I was told I would be directed to a pain management doctor.
6. 5 months later, still no appointment with the pain management doctor.
Every step of the way, I have had to call, over and over again to initiate any sort of action by Med Center.
Every step of the way, I have been told by Med Center that they were waiting on other offices and had done everything that they could.
Every time I check in to the issue, I find I have been misinformed and Med Center is the hold up. Either, there is paperwork that has not been sent, calls that have not been made, etc.
One example, I was told I would be directed to a pain management doctor in October. Med Center did not contact anyone until February, after I reminded them repeatedly. By March, I had not received any calls. I contacted Asclepius Pain Management Center directly and was told that they had notified Med Center that they were not on the Worker’s Comp network and could not see me. I called Med Center and they told me they were still working with Asclepius. When I told Med Center they were not on the Worker’s Comp network, I was told they would look into it. In the following 3 months I have spoken with Med Center on numerous occasion and been told they are still working with Asclepius. Asclepius informed me on several occasions that they had not spoke with Med Center at all. In fact, Asclepius called Med Center several times to notify them of this. Still, Med Center acts as though the problem is with everyone else. This is exactly the issue I had setting up the initial surgery.
If I were to speculate, I would say Med Center is stringing the process out so they can maximize the mandatory monthly check-ups and bill Worker’s Comp.
The office is full of a mix of people with actual problems and people just seeking drugs. In the many, many hours I have had to sit in the Med Center waiting room, I have heard a great many stories identical to mine.
In 15 months, I have never spoken to an actual doctor. The P.A.s I have seen are as follows:
Paul. Aloof, Lethargic, Disconnected, Disengaged, Likes to give noncommittal, short answers to complex questions, is defensive when questioned about the lengthy process of receiving care.
Amber. Arrogant, Suspicious, Impersonal, treats me like some kind of drug-seeking addict. Has the office test me to make sure I’m taking my medications almost every time I see her, as if I were selling them. Which is odd considering I asked them to halve the dosage and they did. Why would I do this if I was a drug seeker or selling the prescription?
Receptionists: Dismissive, abrupt. Spend most of their time chatting about inappropriate personal issues. When I asked if they would change the channel on the waiting room TV, as a posted sign instructs us to do, they declined and turned up the volume.
There are many more reasons to avoid this filthy, unsanitary place, but I’m sure you get the point.

My mother went here today and was very pleased with the quality of service. She recently went to a hospital doctor and had to pay an outragious price for the doctor to examine her through a computer. And didnt even do the basic procedures like listen to her lungs, and check her throat and ears. She will go back to Med Center the next time she needs medical help or advice. And the staff was very friendly. Thanks!
