I have been a patient here for my entire life. The past few years have gone downhill significantly. I have a medication that needs to be refilled monthly. Every month I take less than the prescribed amount because without fail there is a problem EVERY SINGLE MONTH refilling a prescription I’ve been on for 20 years.
The receptionist is rude, speaks broken English, and doesn’t forward messages for the doctor or nurse to call back. I called almost a dozen times without any response.

This is a very busy urgent care. You stand in line a long time because they have very few employees checking you in. Sometimes you are in line to check out only to find out you are in the wrong line and have to get in back of another long line just to check out. Employees don't even look at you when checking you in. They don't smile and are not friendly or helpful. If you are constantly busy, please get more employees at the front desk to check you in. When you walk in, there is a feeling of kaos and not peace. As a patient, the doctors have knowledge, but the system of checking patients in and out is very confusing. I definitely won't be returning as a patient!! I strongly recommend you find another healthcare facility nearby like Chelsea.

There is usually always a long wait line…. Other than that I seen Dr. Sara Callahan for a check up, and I must say she is the best Dr. I have ever been with. She made me feel so comfortable and was very easy going. I can’t thank her enough. Front desk was very polite and made it a quick process to get me in for my next appt.

We are new to the area. My partner was hit by a car nearby, and this was the closest medical facility I found. The front desk was incredibly rude—telling us to not bother because we weren’t already patients. They didn’t ask if he could walk or what his injuries were, and we had to ask multiple times just to consult with a nurse before trying to drive to another facility. The front desk told me the nurse wouldn’t do anything, and it ended with one woman screaming at me as we left the facility. I think this exchange speaks for itself—you can do better than going here.

Abysmal communication. Time sensitive and important messages on patient gateway are viewed by staff and then ignored for weeks. My doctor no-showed a telehealth visit until I called and the front desk said they’d “get her on the ball.” They canceled an appointment I had booked and awaited for months without notifying me because I didn’t upload my new insurance card *before* the appointment. I have never felt well cared for while a patient at this clinic and I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for primary care.

Preferably regarding pediatrics, adult med, & lab.... For those who may not know, this Charlestown MGH Health Center location is only available to Charlestown residents. Their parking lot is VERY small and tight so residents should walk there as much as possible. Even surrounding streets are full, obviously it’s Boston. Anywho: Their hours of operation are not the greatest but other than that our family has always recieved great service in numerous departments. My fiancé has been apart of Charlestown MGH since he was a baby & about 2 years ago we transferred our two daughters there too. Pediatrics is amazing. They are thorough, knowledgeable, kind yet sort of stern in their voices, and helpful to the families needs whether it be insurance issues or scheduling, running late, housing help, etc. The nurses line call you back almost immediately too. Only once I have waited more than 30 mins for a call back & even then it was just around an hour. That’s pretty awesome seeing all other hospitals take hours, up to a whole day to give a call back, if they even call back at all. There are only 2 or 3 doctors in the Pedi office and sometimes only one on shift that day but everything runs pretty smoothly and I never waited long, even during walk-in and busy times of the year. I get appointments at my convenience too. I just wish you didn’t have to leave your stroller/carriage in the hallway but i understand & it’s more of an annoyance than an issue. Adult medicine is similar except their call back times can be non-existent sometimes and getting an appointment any time soon with certain physicians can be tricky too unfortunately. The Lab techs are awesome though. I go to a different MGH because I have been since I was a kid but I go to this Charlestown Lab for my blood work & the staff are so gentle and patient. I have always had tiny tiny veins that love to move and sometimes you may think you feel them but they actually are really deep & many places stick me a ton of times and do not want to listen which ends up getting them frustrated & inevitably calling other techs to try, just to turn me into their personal pin cushion, all to end up telling me to go somewhere else. Well MGH Charlestown has NEVER done that to me. They actually get me on the first or second prick and never have to stick me in my hands, knuckles, upper arms to try. No fiddling around either! They are so gentle and caring. They actually know what their doing. Great family health center. Takes almost all insurances too.

If your in need of a good doctor this clinic is not for you. I was told I needed to change because there are no doctors there to treat chronic diseases. They only have resident doctors to experiment with patients. They will leave you to die. Do not attend if your a patient with a chronic condition.
