This is a bit overdo, but I had to get my own psychiatrist because he REFUSED to refer me and degraded me because he does not believe adults “get ADHD” and dismissed all of my concerns with anxiety, seizures, and other issues. He very clearly stated to me “sounds like someone’s been doing some googling. You’re acting like a child and making things up”. He then went on to tell me “that’s what this generation does. They spend tons of money and get diagnosed for things they don’t need”.
He then asked about “what’s stressing you out at home” and I refused to answer (i was in a domestic abuse situation)
He got pissed off and asked “how am I gonna help you if I don’t know what’s going on”
I finally snapped and said “I’m NOT sharing private information about my life that is irrelevant to a SIMPLE REFERRAL. I’m NOT asking for a diagnosis from you, I’m asking for a REFERRAL. Now if you don’t mind, I’d like to wrap this up and get my blood work done and leave.”
He laughed and just said “okay” and left.
AS SOON as he left the room, he had to tell all his nurse team about our conversation and all about “this generation” and said ugly things about me when I never once shouted, cursed at him, called him names, or pointed out the fact that he is NOT even qualified to diagnose me for what I was discussing. He’s not a psychiatrist/neurologist, he’s just a regular primary doctor. He shouldn’t have “mental health” anywhere near his office either because he clearly cares nothing about it.
This happened a bit ago and it still to this day because I almost didn’t get diagnosed for what I needed and to think this might happen to others infuriates men

There are so many other things he has said and done, but I’m not here to write a book, I’m here to warn others of what I experienced. I strongly advise you avoid this place if you’re need mental and emotional assistance.
