My spouse was admitted for gallbladder removal and pancreatitis. Since she needed to pump, her first room was in the maternity ward. Right away, a white nurse assumed she had diabetes just because her bloodwork showed low glucose—even though she had been fasting for two days due to being unable to keep food down. This assumption had nothing to do with her actual medical condition and everything to do with racial stereotyping, as she is Indigenous and brown.

Unfortunately, this wasn’t the only incident. In the surgical unit, another white nurse treated her with the same racial bias. Later, she was moved to a different room, which had a picture of a brown child on the wall and Spanish-language materials, as if her appearance alone determined she didn’t speak English. A staff member even mentioned they were expecting a patient who spoke Spanish but then realized my wife wasn’t the one they assumed. So, they moved her again—forcing her to endure unnecessary pain simply because of their racist assumptions.

The actions of your staff were not just offensive but physically harmful. My wife was already suffering, and instead of receiving proper care, she was subjected to racial profiling that led to unnecessary distress and pain. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, and no patient should have to go through it.

Called twice for update of my husband in emergency dept. They couldn't tell me nothing, nurse taking care of him, was to busy, same second time calling, again 1hr later to busy she'll call back... I said, should I just come in there! Whomever on the phone said, you'll have to wait in waiting room, until you can come back for any info... this is 2:43am rude! I've dealt with this hospital several times! Emergency dept. Depending on the nurses, are normally nice... some are not! When I call to see what's going with my husband and I get attitude... twice!! And pass it off we are to busy!!!! And I ask twice both times... can't anybody tell me something!! Do I need to come there! And I'm told, you can but YOU'LL NEED TO WAIT IN THE WAITING ROOM, BASICALLY LIKE EVERYONE ELSE! I know they may be busy, it's now been been almost 2 1/2 hrs since 1st call asking for a update! If I was sitting in his room.... I'd have something... which I normally stand in doorway to get any info.
Hospital system need to improve.... there getting worse and worse....

My husband was in the ER for about eight hours, no bad review on the facility because I totally understand how busy things get. I want to shot out to some excellent and above and beyond nurses in the ER and in ICU. Spencer and CJ in the ER were excellent. Their demeanor and care was far better than I ever expected in an emergency room. Now the ICU staff. Sara and I think she is a full-time staff nurse there, and Melissa a per deim nurse, had excellent bedside manners. Sara was a night nurse that did not let her, what I am sure I would’ve had, fatigue prevent her from being kind, considerate and informative. Thanks Sara. Now Melissa, was so kind and one that really used great nursing judgment and utilized her skills as a nurse well. She explained prior to performing any task, and followed up with needs. Thanks Melissa, you will be an excellent NP once you’ve completed your studies. I am not from Washington State but must say, I was very pleased overall with Auburn Medical. Thanks team!

If I can give zero stars I would.
I was treated like dirt from one of the staff name Maleeka that was in the cafeteria. And yes I had to get her name because people need to be called out for how disgusting they treat people. At of all places, you would think the hospital would have some kind of empathy for their patients but no not here. That lady needs better training or management needs to step in and check her.
Multicare, do better on who you hire because they are representing your organization.

Low star because of one ER Nurse, Rosemarie. Rosemarie will act nice in the beginning but quickly change on You and transfer You to another Nurse. She has horrible customer service skills and is extremely rude!!!

Hospital was nice and they took care of Us. Didn’t allow Us to leave until they made sure everything was safe.

Casey and Geggrey, ER Nurses were Amazing!!! Although RoseMarie is no Saint!!! The other Nurses are Awesome!!!

My wife went in for gallbladder removal and pancreatitis. The first room was maternity because she needed to pump. A white nurse assumed my wife had diabetes because her bloodwork showed low glucose. She had been fasting 2 days because she couldn’t hold anything down. My wife is brown and indigenous, and was racially stereotyped. She was stereotyped against in the surgery room by another white nurse. She was transferred to a different room with a different picture in the wall of a brown child and information in Spanish. The lady said, And then they said that they were going to get a patient any minute but she spoke perfect English and they realized it wasn’t her. Then they transferred her again. Fircing my wife to move in excruciating pain because your white racist staff racially stereotyped my wife thinking she spoke Spanish. Your white nurses caused harm to my wife and pain.

This week my daughter has been to two ER's. The first was on Tuesday at St. Peters in Olympia where they barely examined her and we sat for 4 hours only to be sent home with no diagnosis.

Today her pain was still there so we took her to the MultiCare ER in Auburn at the recommendation of a friend. The experience was night and day. Yes, they were slammed. but they took great care of us and ran every test possible to find out what was going on with her. From Jessa, Dr. Tran, Dr. Yi, Chloe and Mark in the ultra sound department we could not have been treated any better. Yes, we had a bed in the hallway and we were there for 6 hours, but as I sat there I could see how hard they were all working to take care of everyone who needed help.

After raising 3 kids I know how crazy ER's can be and the nurses and Dr's have to prioritize those who need help the most first. We were a non-urgent issue and they treated us as if we were just as important as their most urgent patients...we just had to wait a little longer.

I am so grateful for all the staff who took care of us from the check-in, the nurses, "uber" wheel chair staff, the doctors, radiologists, ultra sound, to the check out we left with a diagnosis and we finally know what is wrong with our daughter. Thank goodness it was something fixable and we left with a plan to get her better.

As I sat in the hallway with my daughter watching everyone work they were hustling to take care of everyone with little to no thanks. In a world where our medical system has been so beaten down since Covid we all need to be more patient and grateful when we are lucky enough to get great medical care. Also, the hospital was clean and the waiting room was comfortable.

Thank you to our whole team for helping us find a solution to our daughters problem.

I was inpatient at Auburn multicares psychiatric unit in 2021. I have had bad chronic mental health issues all my life and I've been to many hospitals. I will always remember Auburn as the best inpatient psych hospital I was ever in. It was also the only hospital I stayed at until they actually discharged me instead of AMAing the second I could.
There are staff members who's names I can't remember but faces I'll never forget. They made sure a schedule and groups happened everyday and they encouraged you to really participate in really effective ways. They really cared about their jobs.
There was always movement and exercise groups too led by one very passionate staff member every day and she would let us pick music on her phone. Everyone would get out of bed for that group at least to sit on the side and watch.
There were these volunteers who ran something called the Insentistore. If you did your daily hygiene, went to groups, behaved well, etc you got points each day that once a week you could spend in this store they would set up that had things like art supplies, clothes, make up, books, toys. It was awesome. They knew what certain patients wanted and needed and sometimes got it.
I really got better that stay. And I didn't even need excessive benzos like it usually takes for me to be stable in that setting.
I am autistic and have severe PTSD and am always very difficult. But they tried very hard to meet all my needs there so I wasn't suffering the whole time I was in there.
I will always tell people how great I think this psych unit is.
