Labor and delivery is horrible. Had the worst experiences there. The nurses made me feel so stupid and made me feel like I was inconveniencing them. The second time I had to go to labor and delivery for pain the nurse made me feel so stupid that I got dressed and left while she walked out of the room and switched to Keller that day. I think it takes a certain personality to be on that department. I think it requires people who are caring and understanding and want to help you. Being pregnant is such a difficult time anyway and I already felt bad for having to come in because I didn’t know what was going on with me. I don’t like going to the hospital or to doctors so for me to come in took a lot, and I was just made to feel so dumb for being there. I have had the most amazing experience at Hellen Keller. Everyone I have encountered has been so friendly and genuinely seems to care. Definitely do not recommend NAMC for birth.

Hospital charged me for my coinsurance before my insurance had even been filed for a procedure I had there. It is illegal to charge this before a claim is filed. You can charge for a copayment, but not coinsurance. Doing so is in violation of the “no surprises act”,a federal law. I was asked, and paid almost 300 dollars before I could have my test. After my insurance claim was filed , my part was only 35.53. I have been trying to get my money back for over two months. I have a credit balance of 249.51 and I have yet to receive it. They give me the run around every I call. I will not be going to this hospital again.

The Pre-Op was a bit unorganized. But as far as the day of surgery, I felt like it went very smoothly. Amanda was an amazing nurse. And Dr Goodman did a terrific job. And kept my family well informed.

When a visitor is there to see a patient who has a name that can be spelled several different ways, please train your staff to at least put forth the effort to confirm or even ask for the spelling of the patient's name before dismissing the visitor after only 1 search & informing the visitor the person you've come to see isn't there. (FYI, the patient was there at your hospital all along, but I was told by 2 different staff members "There's no one here by that name")

Wouldn’t send my worst enemy here. Went in for routine procedure which was phenomenal, about a week later had a post operative complication that landed me back in the ER. Mind you I was writhing in pain and couldn’t barely walk but was treated like I was the dirt under the doctor’s feet. He approached my post operative pain as “self induced” panic attacks and stated I was simply there for pain pills (to which my best friend practically jumped down his throat). We requested another provider knowing something was terribly wrong and this same provider came back in saying very loudly in the hallway “Well I guess I hurt her feelings so I guess I need to apologize”. He didn’t. He only explained further why his examination revealed that I was having a panic attack to which both my best friend and I practically screamed “well I’m sorry that I’m at a 10/10 pain post op less than a week ago from surgery”. The nurses were devoting and sweet and did their best to make sure I was comfy but mostly their hands were tied. I was denied any water and or blankets to keep me warm despite me shivering and being in a cold sweat.
Once it was determined what my complication was I was offered admittance yet not encouraged. I took the offer and begged for a different provider.
Let me just say the difference in the providers you meet in NAMC affiliated practices vs the hospitalists are night and day. I have nothing but praises for my surgeon, but could say lots otherwise with my experience on the floor in the hospital. Nurses ignored call lights and yelled at you if you did something wrong, a nurse let me sit in my own mess for over an hour despite me crying into the call button and begging for help. Care partners were really not focused on the patient but on their phones and who was snapping them. I had two care partners despite me stating how much pain I was in run my bed into an elevator door causing my drain to be jolted. I was forced to stay longer than previously planned due to “infectious disease” having an adverse opinion to my surgeon who I found out had release papers signed and ready Friday evening knowing I would recover better at home. I was put on so many antibiotics for no reason given to me that I couldn’t get to the bathroom multiple times resulting in care partners laughing at me from my room doorway.

All in all my opinion will never change that NAMC will due anything including further physical and psychological distress to make a quick buck off insurance. It’s disappointing what healthcare has turned into.

I just want to share my wonderful experience with the hospital yesterday. The staff at registration was welcoming and informative. Debbie was so friendly, smiling, and helpful in getting me ready to have my thyroid ultrasound. We chatted and talked, and she informed me of my options to pay up front with a discount.

Melissa from ultrasound came to get me, and she welcomed me with a smile. She explained everything she was going to do during the procedure, and was super friendly. I appreciate her so very much.

After the ultrasound, I had to proceed to nuclear medicine to prepare for my next procedure for my thyroid. Karen took the time to explain everything to me about the procedure, and even educated me on what they are looking for on the scan. She even took the time to draw pictures to explain it. I just appreciate the attention and education provided by the staff here at NAMC. Thank you for a great experience.

They treated me very well. Drew made jokes with me and changed my bed in less then 2 minutes. He is a very nice caring nurse, he used to work as a paramedic. Should be number one nurse
