if I could honestly give a 0 stars I would.

I tried two different times coming here and unfortunately had the worst experiences.

Front desk receptionists went above and beyond and made me feel welcome.

On the other hand, I worked with Cheryl and as her client I didn’t feel comfortable. I didn’t feel like I was taken seriously. Not only did she say my first ever session that I ever had with her that “I had to much trauma she’s ever dealt with for a patient” but she also walked out on me the same session. She also would cut my 1 hr sessions to just be 30 mins and would still charge me for the whole one hour. The last session I had with her was supposed to be in October 2023 and she just never worked with my schedule with the days I gave her. She dropped me as a client.

I’m disappointed.

Communication is shameful. My child receives services from Ingrid here and she is is terrible at responding to inquires (I even have an email where she admits this) about how my child is doing. In other practices, counselors have *ALWAYS* taken 5-10 off an appointment to discuss what my child is doing—I DO NOT MEAN VIOLATE her confidentiality, I mean, for example, we worked on these goals; we worked on self-esteem or how to advocate, or she used today to just vent, etc. What this provides me is an opportunity to say ok what can I do to support what she worked on, etc. Or here was an event which she may need help processing.

I have reached out to the practice manager on serveral occasions and she too cannot seem to communicate--perhaps in part because everytime I call (various times and days; “she is only here until 3pm, oh she left at 12 noon today,“ etc.) she has never once been available and cannot seem respond to voicemails I have left.

But hey, l’m sure we will see one of those lame ‘sorry for your experience contact us here’ responses that businesses use to try and save face when a valid/construction review is made but never actually resolved anything. Perhaps when I complain to the *𝐌𝐀 𝐁𝐎𝐀𝐑𝐃 𝐎𝐅 𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐋 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐇* someone will care enough about patients interdiscuplinary care and appropriate patient care/communication.

I recently have become a client here with Katie Gadd as my therapist. Katie is the kindest and most caring therapist I've had in a very long time. She is ALWAYS ON TIME, ALWAYS OFFERING ADDITIONAL INFO IF SHE BELIEVES SOMETHING CAN BENEFIT YOU. KATIE JUST GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT IS "REQUIRED" OF HER. SHE IS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR... This place bills you incorrectly. They never answer their phones, won’t return your call and won’t return your email to resolve the fact that the billed you for a session you didn’t take. Would not recommend them.

I'm surprised by the reviews and I wanted to stop by and share my experience. I have nothing but positive feedback for Nova Initia Counseling. From the initial call to scheduling appointments, everything has been smooth and easy. My therapist is amazing – I feel really comfortable talking to him, and he's been incredibly helpful in navigating me through my issues. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for support and help.
