The Oasis rep who spoke with me while my Mom was in the hospital was a lovely person and answered many of my questions on the spot. I wanted my Mother to live with us during her hospice care and she explained how all that could happen. We had hospital equipment brought into our home, a visiting nurse several times a week, and an aide that came to bathe her and change bedding 3x per week. In addition, we had a Chaplin and social worker come visit with Mom about every three weeks. All the regular help and substitutes were so compassionate and caring. I cannot say enough good things about this company. The people they hire are all wonderful and see their work not only as a job but a mission to serve those nearing the end of life. I could not have helped Mom better by hiring this company as our hospice provider. They provided me with booklets containing specifics on what to expect during various stages that would occur during their declining health. Our helpers were always responsive to return calls if we had questions and a nurse was always available after hours, if needed. We had Oasis hospice a little over a year. Mom was able to get pain meds, as necessary, so they keep the patient comfortable. I would highly recommend Oasis if you have a family member requiring hospice care.
Sincerely,
Marilyn W.

A Heartfelt Blessing:
Words cannot express the immense gratitude and appreciation I have for Hospice Oasis. This exceptional hospice care facility has been an incredible blessing to my beloved grandmother during one of the most challenging times in our lives. The experience we had with this organization was simply indescribable and felt like a true gift from above.

Throughout my grandmother's stay at home with Hospice Oasis, the level of care and support she received was nothing short of impeccable. The staff went above and beyond in providing not only medical assistance but also emotional encouragement that made a world of difference. They truly made a difficult journey much easier for our entire family, and for that, we are eternally grateful.

As a refugee from Ukraine, my grandmother never could have imagined that such an amazing privilege would be available to her. Hospice Oasis not only welcomed her with open arms but also treated her with the utmost dignity, respect, and compassion. This inclusive nature and genuine care for individuals from diverse backgrounds truly set this organization apart.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to every member of the Hospice Oasis team. Your dedication and commitment to your work are evident in every interaction we had. Hayley, Melissa, Charity, Ashley,Mr. Fastes, Miss Rachel, and Miss Patricia, your names will forever be etched in our hearts. Each one of you blessed my grandmother and our entire family with your unwavering care and kindness.

It is clear that the staff at Hospice Oasis pour their hearts into their work. Their passion and genuine concern for their patients shine through in every action and gesture. The impact they have had on our lives goes far beyond words, and we will be forever grateful for their presence during this difficult time.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Hospice Oasis to anyone in need of hospice care. Their exceptional services, combined with their compassionate and dedicated staff, create an environment of healing, support, and comfort. Thank you, Hospice Oasis, for being a beacon of light in our lives. May God bless each and every person who works tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of those in need. My dad was only on hospice for 1 month before his passing but everyone we encountered with Oasis was amazing. Our hospice nurse Lisa W. was so caring and easy to work with. She answered all our questions and listened to our concerns to make a plan that worked for everyone. She made sure we had everything we needed to care for my dad. We could not have asked for anyone better.

The nurses were kind and caring. The staff was helpful during a difficult time. It may not be the prettiest place but the staff was attentive, the patient care recognitions were attentive and I had a pleasant experience. Hopefully, the will be able to hire more staff to answer the phones and update the place.

I have been under the care of Oasis for one month and my experience has been horrible. I am dying from congestive heart failure and autonomic dysfunction and I am in terrible pain. I had 15 years of successful pain management with opiates and opioids but the Oasis affiliated-doctor will only prescribe a nerve medication that I’ve had allergic reactions to in the past, but I’ve taken it as directed and, yes, I’m having allergic reactions to it again. I have never abused any medications and, if I understand the opioid crisis correctly, the people who overdose and die are injecting opioids — I have a fear of needles and I could never bring myself to inject a needle in my veins.

Communication with the Oasis staff is abysmal. Calls are not returned and faxes cannot be sent because the fax line is always busy. There is no palliative care, no pain management, and very little attempt to manage symptoms such as severe edema, etc. I’ve not had real sleep in months due to pain. I never know if an RN will show up — the RN’s seem to be overworked and when they do come they relay symptoms to the doctor (stepping outside which is just weird) via email and one can never be certain if they relay the information correctly. One is never told who does what at the office and leaving voicemails isn’t productive because, as I said, calls are not returned.

Someone mentioned that Oasis’ offices are in Moody, Alabama, far away from Birmingham and particularly far away from my inner-city residence. I have to say that they were quick to sign me up and provide all manner of medical equipment — mostly devices that I don’t need. I see one review in which the reviewer changed hospice providers... I’m going to pursue doing that.

I was tired of suffering and I lack the ability to schedule appointments with numerous doctors to control my symptoms. I had great hope that hospice treatment was right for me but Oasis has not provided their services as advertised. I’m in full-blown manic mode just now and I know that I’ll not sleep anytime soon. Oasis seems incapable of providing hospice services and I wish that I could rate them with no stars. Stay away from them.

WE CANNOT RECOMMEND. We used Oasis for Hospice Care for our mother. On some days when scheduled to arrive, nurses did not even come. Nurses were sent from long distances to come out and in most cases arrived between 1.5-2 hours after initial calls were made. They were understaffed and unable to care for our mother. Christy the social worker was very caring and helpful as well as Pam Whitten one of the RNs. But other than than, the remaining nurses were slow to respond. There were so many problems but here are just a few examples. Most supplies were not available until too late. The RN Natalie, took a wait and see approach to her care when it came to bowel and bladder relief and only provided comfort when we communicated with the social worker. One of the Nurse Aids came at 7:30 at night to give her a bath. My mother suffered and was in pain while under their care. Our mother could not swallow and they would not administer pain medication by injection. The worst was when she died it took over 2 hours to have a nurse come out and declare the time of death since the on-call nurse lived 2 hours from our location. If the nurse had been 15 minutes late the date of death would be incorrect. The funeral arrangements were documented but the on-call nurse did not make arrangements for the body stating she didn't have that information. Only after my husband called and made the arrangements did she look on her computer and see that she did indeed have the information. Hospice service was paid for but we had to do their job for them.
