I have been using the Omnipod pump for 10 years now. I really loved my original Omnipod system (I would have given it 5/5 stars), I changed to the new Omnipod 5 last month and I absolutely HATE it. It is truly making me consider switching pumps entirely. The old system was AAA battery-powered, I never had to worry about the charge and now it is a rechargeable battery with barely 48 hours of battery life. It is just another thing you have to think about/find a plug for (especially inconvenient with traveling). The old system had a way to test your blood sugar on the device, this new system does not. So now I need to carry even more supplies as a glucose testing back up in case the Dexcom has an issue/to calibrate the Dexcom. I have had more pod communicate issues with the new system than I ever had in the 10 years I used the old system. Additionally it is constantly jumping from vibrate to "loud" setting. I have the Dexcom and the fact that it communicates with my CGM is nice, however when I have an urgent low - now I have not only my Dexcom alarming loudly but my pod system alarming loudly as well. It is too much and not necessary. I am so incredibly disappointed in the new system. I wish I could switch back to the original Omnipod, I regret not waiting til I was forced to switch to make the change.

I am in love with this pump AND this company.

For me, the biggest benefit of the Omnipod is the lack of tubing. I love that I don't have to worry about catching the tubing on something and ripping it out, and I love that the "Personal Diabetes Manager" (PDM, the device that controls insulin delivery) doesn't have to be on my person at all times. I can leave it in my purse and just grab it whenever I need to. I can still swim as much as I would ever want, and the adhesive has only been a problem once (after a day of going in and out of the water).

Before Omnipod, I was on multiple daily injections. 10/10 would recommend becoming a Podder! It has helped me exercise without getting lows, it has made it easier to deal with blood sugars in public, it makes it possible for me to deliver extended boluses when I know that I will get high blood sugars overnight (after pizza or ice cream).

On top of all this, every single interaction I have had with Omnipod has been OUTSTANDING. They go above and beyond to ensure that I get replacement pods when something malfunctions. They have a team of people who train you on how to use the pump and then check in with you to be sure all is well after you've been using it for a few weeks. This is the kind of company I want to work with - especially when dealing with insurance/the medical field more generally is often frustrating. As their customer service always says, they are there for you 24/7/365.

To me, the choice of Omnipod was simple--I did not want to deal with a tube set every time I take a shower which is sometimes twice per day when I play golf or work out.
I am an active person and the Omnipod does not get in the way of activities. I am so pleased with the customer service the few times that I have had a pod fail. I am a 61 year old T1D. I find that managing my insulin is easy with the meter that comes with your first set of pods. The personal diabetes meter is dated and will be updated within the next year according to the articles I have read. The current meter works fine but the new meter will be in a Smart phone format. I highly recommend this system for its ease of use and convenience.

I was diagnosed with T1D in 2008. The OmniPod is my third insulin pump. I’ve had positive experiences with all my pumps, but the pod is the absolutely way to go. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to realize how beneficial being free of tubing is. I’m a martial artist, and with strong adhesive tapes, the pod rides well with me as I take and receive a beating - surviving vigorous movement and sweat. The OP team has been nothing but over the top helpful, welcoming and supportive every step of the way, as well. They’ve got me as a loyal customer.

Awful - used for about 2 weeks. Constant highs. Seemed like it was not administering any insulin. Left a lump wherever the cannula was that bled quite a bit. Much better control with manual injections. The pods do NOT 'learn' anything - just calculates your total insulin delivery and uses your current blood sugar to calculate boluses - that is it. It is not 'automatic' in ANY way.

My husband uses these pods and they are horrible!!! They constantly fail, the insulin that he looses is ridiculous, every other pod inclusions! The money that our insurance pay for something that consistently fails is ridiculous, and you call and get garbage results!! Insulin is expensive to consistently loose!!!

Sunday night need to change the batteries on my PDM by omnipod flashes a white screen try multiple batteries nothing works 10 minutes on hold waiting for help a recording comes on offering me to have a call back leave my phone number it tells me to call back within 1 to 2 business days. Doesn't do me much good now does it. This company continually fails the people who rely on it. Completely worthless.
September 1st. Without basal insulin delivery for approximately thirty hours. Made numerous attempts to fix this on my own, Reached out the email to management, No return calls, Just go off the phone with a woman with a heavy accent. Very difficult to understand, Kept putting me on hold so she could check her manual. Has no idea what she is doing. After 37 minutes I requested.She put someone else on the line. Another five minutes goes by and I just gave up and hung up. I can't say this Enough. IT IS NOT 24/7, 365 DAY SUPPORT IF EMPLOYEES CONTINUALLY READ FROM A SCRIPT, CANT COMMUNICATE IN ENGLISH ANDARE NOT TRAINED IN THEIR POSITIONS.

Came from Medtronics had them since I was 18 switched to omnipod at 30 now 32 I’m an FDNY paramedic so I’m pretty active, and although it’s more convenient of a system it has a lot of flaws! within a year I had to replace my pdm 7 times! I wish I had an app on my cellphone and/or after being out so long the company would fix bugs. I also constantly have issues where I can not enter my BGL due to “Bluetooth unavailable” I try about 6 times then I will most of the time get it to work, also why can’t omnipod work with a cgm like dexcom or freestyle Libre to integrate the bgl! Before you respond I know you will say something to the effect of thank you for letting us know but we would like to keep your privacy please contact us at 1-800 we really could care less and are sending out a generic response but only care about sales, this was written 3 years ago and I thought maybe they had done better but recently had another issue and they were no help what so ever switched to another brand and within 24 hours my glucose was better controlled then it had been ever on Omnipod I would never recommend them to anyone at all and that’s not just because of their terrible service and lack of care for anything other then money but as a medical professional too
