I work in healthcare and was very disappointed with the dermatology NP and her assistant at this location and with the quality of care and service. The NP’s assistant was very rude to me on the phone and in person multiple times. They are extremely strict with their 10 minute late policy and refused to see me when I called to say I was stuck in traffic and was arriving 9 mins late, wouldn’t allow me to have a phone appointment despite the NP barely glancing at my skin in the previous appointment and spending less than five minutes with me. They offered me an appointment over a month later and refused to refill my medication until the appointment. I will be finding a new dermatologist.

I tried really hard not have to write a review but the care provided here was so bad that I don’t even know how to voice my frustration than through reviews before escalating to an actual complaint through legal means.

LONGER STORY:

3 weeks ago I went to the ER and took my results to this office as a new patient since I recently moved here. I liked my time with the NP and all seemed like it was going well. I had serious pain in my stomach I got prescribed meds. All good.
Well it took 4 whole ass days to get my prescription to the pharmacy for some reason so I was sitting in pain for that long. Took the antibiotics and the stomach pain was still there, went to urgent care, there’s an infection growing left untreated and unnoticed. Urgent care doctor is surprised my PCP office missed it.
I call for an urgent appointment because it was this office’s fault that the infection was missed. They can’t see me within 72 hours. Infection is severe.
I called to talk to a nurse, the problem with Optum is they send you to a triage telehealth nurse somewhere in the country not your Dr office - this nurse said she sent an urgent message to my Dr office for a callback same day. I didn’t get a call back.
I called again today and finally got patched through to Leslie at my actuallDr office. She said an urgent message was never sent!!!! But the notes are in my chart. I’m furious at this point. I JUST NEED CARE AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR MY INFECTION OF 3 WEEKS. This is appalling.

Went in to have some lab work done and it’s been 12 days since I’ve heard anything from my doctor. I had to call to ask for my results after I was told it would be ready in 6-7 days. I got called back 3 times just to let me know that the doctor would call to tell me my results and answer any questions I had because my results just happen to come in 10 minutes before I called. I never got a call from any doctor and I paid for result that weren’t accurate the nurse simply said “seem like everything is fine” and I’m supposed to be satisfied with that. I hope they forget to bill me for results I barely got since this is how they run this place.

OPTUM is a mediocre Medical Group. I prefer the Broadway location in Glendale, but I've only gone there to see specialists or have images taken. The Descanso location is awful. I have been going here for the last 4 years and they have changed my general practitioner 8 times! That's an average of a new doctor every six months. How can you expect a doctor to become familiar with a patient and to truly care about what procedures, specialists or medications that person might need when they're never there long enough for a follow up visit even! It's frustrating trying to get any kind of adequate care because of this, in my experience. Some of their specialists are very difficult to deal with as well. For example, the pain management doctor they sent me to is only in his office 1 day a week. How is this possible! He is a pain management doctor, he handles all pain medications and treatments for pain. If I can't reach the doctor I'm required to go to when I'm in excruciating pain and need relief from it, what are my options I've been told that I just have to wait for the doctor and don't have any other options than to wait. If you know anything about prescription pain medications you know that waiting is not an option . It's just another thing that I find completely unacceptable.

I have been so much happier with my healthcare experience since coming to Optum! I have a rather inconsistent health insurance from the state. I had pretty much resigned to the belief id always be dealing with doctors I didnt love but thats changed since coming to Optum!

DISAPPOINTED ...... My Aunt had an XRAY a month ago . We waited a month for another appt to see her primary physician for the result. Dr said and his assistant that they do not have the result. I called OPTUM and asked if they did fax it over to her Dr. The lady said yes . So i verified the number and it was the right fax number. The lady said then to call your primary and tell them that we are sending it for the 2nd time and we are NOT SENDING IT AGAIN... hahahaha Very Nice SERVICE.
So i sadi if the Dr's office did not get it again we have NO CHOICE and she said IM NOT GOING TO SEND IT AGAIN so WE WILL JUST MOVE TO ANOTHER INSURANCE i told her then i hang up. A friend just recommended SCAN TO US. SO I TOLD the lady i WILL JUST MOVE TO ANOTHER PLACE and hang up. WE DONT NEED SCAN ANYWAYS... Other place have nicer employees and service.
