great staff, professional and caring. after pickup truck brake checked me and I hit him in my semi truck which veered off into woods and was trapped in truck. Firefighters had to cut down trees and cut me out of truck. EMT's got me to Penn Highlands Trauma 1. x-rays, tests and then they stitched me up-over 50 stitches. I had broken foot, 4 broken ribs and 4 staples in my head. Took great care of me and in 3 days was able to go home. Can't thank them enough.

I walked in around 7 am of the first snowfall of the season with an infection, was treated very well in the ER, and all my tests were completed within an hour of walking in. They knew I had to be admitted, and to be honest waiting for a room upstairs was the longest I waited. I even asked for non narcotic pain killer and it was in my IV within 10 minutes of asking.
The 5th floor staff, as well as the ER staff were kind, patient, helpful, professional, and knew what they were doing. And the view was pretty nice too since the leaves were changing.

This hospital has a policy of not letting anyone in to stay with their family in the ER. There are zero people in the lobby, and they just tell you the’ll come get you when there is an update. This is absurd. If we had had any other option, I would have gone elsewhere. An hour with no update? And just a snotty woman on the phone telling you you can’t come back and get an update. Horrible place.

Every one exceptionally awesome! Meghan a nurse to mine it was time for me to go and it was time for her to go, but instead of her punching out, she pushed me clear out to my car because I have been having trouble with my left leg and not being able to walk very well and I was very unstable too ! So just let Meghan know that she’s awesome !Thank you all very much!

Horrible! My husband drove me a hour and 45 minutes to this hospital because I was having uncontrollable bleeding from have my teeth removed. Was told by my oral surgeon to go here to get the bleeding under control. We walked in the ER and the was a older couple sitting in the waiting room. The waiting room was dead. Nobody at a front desk had to use their phone for help. Nurse came out checked me in said she was going to clean a bed for me. Sat there for hours. Called for help and they couldn't tell me how much longer I could wait. Ended up leaving with uncontrollable bleeding. SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN

On August 15th, my daughter was subjected to a farcical display of incompetence at the Penn Highlands Dubois ER. Upon arrival, we were met with a dismal lack of staff presence and had to use a black phone on the wall to summon assistance. After an excruciating 10-minute wait, a nurse finally emerged. The procedure that followed was a series of blunders: a blood pressure cuff and finger oximeter were used on the same arm—a fundamental procedural error.

Our ordeal continued as we spent nearly two hours waiting in a room before encountering a nurse who, bewilderingly, kept asking the same questions and seemed utterly incapable of performing even the most basic tasks. This was followed by an emergency doctor who repeated the same inquiries and prescribed Tylenol and ibuprofen.

The nightmare continued with another hour’s wait for the same nurse to return and ask the same questions. The testing process was conducted by Amanda M., who was not only rude but also demonstrated an alarming disregard for hygiene protocols—no handwashing, no gloves, and aggressive behavior. Her incompetence was highlighted further when she left a band around my daughter’s arm while attempting to insert an IV, screamed at her to stop "jerking around," and failed to follow basic infection control procedures.

The entire process was a poorly executed disaster with no proper labeling, no PPE use, and an evident lack of basic medical protocol. Additionally, witnessing multiple nurses lounging outside the room, eating snacks, and using vulgar language only added to the dismal experience. This hospital’s glaring deficiencies in medical knowledge, adherence to protocols, and professional conduct are unforgivable. It is an abysmal excuse for a medical facility and should be shut down until it can be staffed by competent professionals who can adhere to proper procedures and provide basic care.

The care was good...being in the ER to be released for hours of waiting... not good. Work all day and spend same amount of time waiting in a room just to get discharged. It's going on 2 hrs waiting. And there is nothing going on. Very very poor response.

The receptionist of Steven Koch is really unpleasant and unprofessional. She definitely should not have a job. We also waited 3 weeks for her to fax something and didn’t so we missed a deadline for important benefits. We’re not going back to that office and I would not recommend it either.
