This has been the worst health insurance experience I’ve ever had. The communication has been terrible, and they are not considerate at all. A little before their cyber attack, I signed up for coverage through CoverMe.gov. I assumed I was covered because, the following month, I had an emergency and was admitted to the ER. However, I was never sent a card or any information confirming my coverage.

When I contacted CoverMe.gov, they told me to reach out to Harvard Pilgrim. I tried calling and emailing them for months, but I never received any answers. After they resolved their cyber attack issues, they confirmed that I had been covered all along. However, they then charged me for the months I couldn’t get a hold of anyone or receive any information.

Because I thought I wasn’t covered, I wasn’t able to go to the hospital after that incident. This has been a terrible experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. Worst company ever.

I'd look elsewhere, if you have a problem with a provider they will not help you whatsoever. This is a bad, overpriced insurance company. Probably cuz they have to pay the hackers and the bad fraudulent providers they use. They have no way of knowing if a service is completed for sure or not. They just take the provider's word for it. They're the most incompetent insurance company ever between the cyber breach where everyone's information got hacked and my last experience I had with an unprofessional provider.

Predatory and deceitful. Appealed an overcharged co-pay for a CT scan at a location affiliated with a hospital (Children’s Waltham) and the analyst/board were sloppy and inaccurate in their review. Basically, if you have Harvard Pilgrim and get a scan at Children’s Waltham you will get overcharged because they have Children’s Waltham coded incorrectly (as non-hospital affiliated).

This company is terrible to work with if you're a provider. Their support process is a frustrating maze, with multiple transfers and little resolution. The transition from Optum was poorly handled, causing my information to revert to outdated details and resulting in many unpaid sessions. This experience highlights why so many psychotherapists are opting out of accepting insurance—it feels like wage theft.

I recently signed up for Tufts Health after being on Traditional Medicare, so this is a very early impression. They sent me a member card and a letter asking me to "activate your secure member account" with a QR code. I tried that and got "sorry our systems are unavailable, try again shortly". So I tried the next day and got the same thing. After calling their reasonably competent offshore support, it looks like I can't actually activate the account until the 1st of the year. So this initial review is for their IT department wasting my time with the letter and inappropriate error message.

There was a data breach/ransomware attack two months ago and there has not been one email or letter from the company to policyholders. Their system is down and they won't process or cover anything while it's down - it's like not having any health insurance. Terrible way to run a company - not customer centric at all.

This company is terrible to work with. Since the ransomware attack (4/17) their systems have shown that we don't have health insurance even though we do. Harvard Pilgrim told us to insist to our healthcare providers that we have insurance. Last week they told us it was fixed. However this week I have been told by Beth Israel Lahey Health that we don't. When we contact the Harvard Pilgrim BILH number they are useless. Their CIO and CISO should be fired. The response is call the number on the back of the card. I have called the phone number numerous times. They haven't been able to do anything. They try to escalate the issue but nothing is resolved. We have literally spent hours on the phone. When I ask for the name of a supervisor they refuse to give any information.

Not that anyone will care, but this is the dumbest name for a business I have ever encountered - and I have 40 years experience working in business marketing. I am or was in Tufts Medicare, and would not have answered this call - which I assumed was spam - but decided to do so before blocking the phone number. What a surprise: this is my health care calling !
