I love the doctor when I get to see her, I’m going through a miscarriage and everytime I have to come here I’m scheduled for 11 and never get seen until 12:30 or 1 so unless you have time to wait 2-3 hours after your appointment to be seen. find another obgyn

I’ve had 3 appointments here. All 3 times were over an hour wait in the lobby past my appointment time. We are military and this doctor took our insurance. I have a history of blood clots after my last baby and wanted a doctor in Alabama cause that’s where my heart dr, blood dr, and regular doctor are and in case I wanted to get pregnant again I needed them to be able to work together.

My first appt was right after my blood clots and I got the cooper IUD cause I was told it was my only option other than hysterectomy. I went to get it checked after 1 year because it hurts (causes cramping 24/7) and my husband said it stabs him. The doctor the excess off so it wouldn’t stab him and let me tell you it looked like a huge piece cut off. I was confused why she let me leave with that much sticking out after it was originally inserted and understood now why my husband said it felt like a needle stabbing him when we ā€œwrestledā€. But ok.

Fast forward 6 months to today’s appointment. I scheduled appointment to have it removed cause not only does it still stab him but my cramps are worse and my periods are lasting 11 days with extreme mood swings when on period. A quick google search will tell you that means my body isn’t reacting well to the cooper IUD. I pre discussed this with my blood doctor about another form of birth control and was told Mirena IUD was a safe alternative even with a history of blood clots if the cooper wasn’t a good fit. I’ve had that before so thought that would be perfect. Nope. Not only did the doctor refuse to give me ANY other birth control she kept saying she would only do what she would do for her daughter. Then tried to tell me she wasn’t comfortable removing the cooper iud and leaving me with no birth control unless I wanted to schedule a hysterectomy in which case she would remove it then. I had to argue to get my current IUD removed and she kept talking about if I was her daughter. Here’s the thing. Not only am I not her daughter but I’m a 36 year old grown woman who can make her own choices about her body. Needless to say I’m now on no birth control (yes I made her remove it) and she told me she didn’t care what my blood doctor (who specializes in blood clots) said was safe that I can go to another doctor. Oh and tried to tell me I should get on anti depressants for my pms mood swings. Ha.

Well I sure will cause I shouldn’t have to argue to remove birth control. And I don’t understand how I can’t make the educated decision to switch birth controls to a safe alternative cause you wouldn’t give it to your daughter. And if that was the case why even schedule my appointment. I asked to talk to a nurse to confirm the doctor was ok removing old and inserting new birth control when I scheduled the appointment cause I just knew this was going to happen. They wouldn’t let me talk to a nurse or leave a message for one.

I read a couple of negative remarks. You never see a Dr. on time expect a wait. You wait for your hair appt, nail and at a restaurant .
My Dr. retired so I went checking remarks on many doctors.

I am so pleased with Dr. Obiekwe... HAPPY I found her and her staff. Dr.Obiekwe is pleasant very
professional and matter-a-fact.. She doesn't play.
I loved her staff a shout out to LaQuita,Tyler, Delphine and Nicole.
Everyone was friendly, and caring they made me fell confident in my choice .

The receptionist that answers the phones are very rude. I missed my doctor’s appointment today on 12/9/24 because I work 12 hours and I overslept through my alarm by mistake. I called to reschedule an appointment and the lady who answered the phone told me that I couldn’t step foot back into their office ever again because of it. In the past every time I have went they always act like I owe them money for something once I get there. They told me that I owed them 20 cents if I would have came this time. Lol!! It’s just always something with their rude receptionists. This is not the first incident that happened where the receptionists was rude to me on the phone. I’m glad that they kicked me out because now I can find a doctor office who cares about their patients and someone who will treat me with respect. They are in desperate need of new management or they won’t be open very long treating people the way that they treat them. SMH!!…

Just recently had a loved one try and schedule an appointment to this OB. The male secretary/receptionist that answered the phone was extremely rude and demeaning when speaking. He spoke with sarcasm, rudeness and mocked a potential patient over the phone. His unprofessional attitude is a reflection of the behavior they allow in this facility. It was her first time scheduling here and the appointment will most definitely be cancelled. The fact that a male spoke to a female in such a disgraceful manner is absolutely unacceptable, especially given the fact of the topic- women’s health. Whoever is in charge of this facility needs to take a better look at who they are hiring on to care for patients. They should also reconsider hiring a male to work in women’s health. This is a very intimate doctor’s visit for most women and for a male to speak with such ignorance and rudeness over the phone is absolutely unacceptable. Do not seek care here for you or anyone you care about. Staff is extremely unprofessional

I came here only because the other places in the area weren’t accepting clients. They did not open the office up on time and left patients standing and waiting outside. The wait in the lobby was very long. I got placed in a room and didn’t see the doctor for another 30 minutes just for them to tell me ā€œoh we still want to run more testā€. They move VERY SLOW here.

I don’t usually leave reviews but I think they deserve a great review here. I am a college student. I had never been to a gynecologist before. I was very nervous and honestly a little scared. But, wow the staff here is amazing. They were kind, reassuring, and they understood that I was nervous. I was in and out of the appointment quickly as well. I will be back and will be recommending this place to my friends!

Dr. Obiekwe saved my sons life when things took a turn with my delivery and was the only person who listened to me when I told her something was wrong and I was done pushing and immediately took me in for my c section. She truly cares about her patients and I couldn’t have asked for a better doctor
