We travelled to Florida from out of state so my daughter could get surgery. We discovered that our daughter temporarily needed a wheelchair so the hospital set us up with this DME supplier. RPM came to the hospital and dropped us off a wheelchair rental. I had asked the person dropping the chair off about the cost and they replied "don't worry, you won't owe anything". A week later I called RPM to verify the cost because I clearly didnt expect it to be free. I felt like the person over the phone was blowing me off. They would not give me a estimate but instead quickly told me, "don't worry, you won't owe anything, insurance has it covered", before quickly hanging up. When we left Florida to come back home, we had RPM come and pick up the rented wheelchair. A few weeks later, I get a $500 copay bill for a purchased wheelchair instead of a rental. RPM for some reason had billed my insurance company for a wheelchair purchase instead of a rental. I have the order sheet that clearly shows the chair being a rental and not a purchase. I called RPM and they recognized that a mistake was made and told us that they would resolve the issue. It's been several months and I keep getting billed a copay of $500 for a wheelchair purchase. I'm really getting tired of having to keep calling them back. I've had to spend a few hours over the phone with the billing department between being on hold, and getting bounced around to different departments to explain the situation. At this point I'm still not sure when the issue will be resolved.
