Love it there, great clinic. Very helpful lobby secretary and visible security(never know). I especially want to shoot a shout-out to Dr. Ramirez in Environmental Health. She really knows her stuff about deployment related health issues and is up to date with all the most current information regarding the PACT ACT. She will help get in you in the registry too. I went there May 29 at 1130am, looked kinda busy but I wasn't seeing anyone on the first floor because my appointment was located on the third floor. Yeah it has three floors and various departments. The parking area is not so big so take notice. Also, I arrived around the same time that the VA shuttle for veterans was there, so there's that. Over all pleasant experience, oh before I forget the Shell gas station next to the VA clinic, I got so lucky, I was there buying water and food when I noticed they sold lottery scratchers, and I thought yeah I gotta buy one, so I was waiting in line, when one of the employees convinced me to switch to her teller and I thought as long as they got scratches which they did and I bought two and took them back to my truck where I was waiting till 1115 for my appointment, I sat there and scratched the first one, a crossword puzzle $5 one, and would you believe me, I won!......$30 bucks, and the other $3 scratcher was also a crossword puzzle style one too but that one was a loser. So, my experience going to the VA clinic was great, enjoyed and learned from my visit, plus I won $30 which was gnarly so I recommend that Shell gas station for a lottery ticket or scratcher. Also recommend this VA clinic.

Using the VA hospital system in any city, state is not the same. I had to move around to couch surf and homeless for over ten years ending up in states between California and Florida including Washington and Utah. I have had to restart everything over every time I moved and I learned a few things over those 10 years about doctor appointments and different appointments for eyes and blood work so let me begin by saying that if you show up at 10 am and it's not busy or 1 pm and it's a mad house, either way just tell them that you are using the VA transportation and you are on a scheduled pickup and they usually move you through pretty quickly.
I can't say it's foolproof but it's a little bit of an edge for those complaining about long waiting for blood work. Just remember, don't set the bar too high of expectation, you get what you pay for, and if you don't like the VA then just pay for private health care.
Oh, they get complaints but nothing like the VA hospital system.

My husband, an Army Vet, & I have been going to this location since it opened. We had a few issues right after covid but they are back to great service. We are in and out. Of course there are times when we have to wait but it's usually 10-15 minutes. Thats ok with us. I do know many of the older Doctors are there part time, which is fine. Keep up the good work. Shout out to Ms Rose in the business office. Shes very helpful.

October 13, 2023 appointment. I waited after checking in, and after 30 minutes nobody called me while you can see that it wasn’t busy at all. It happened 2nd time already. They disregard appointments and value of patients time. How can the doctor missed appointment. I wouldn’t see Dr. Albert Liang anymore if I were you.

Absolutely great clinic, I did a follow up after being in the ER. Dr. Dave and his assistant were just amazing, they really cared about what was wrong with me and did multiple examinations. Not even the ER at Stanford Health Care hospital took that good care of me. I'm glad my local VA clinic is really good, this is my second time here for a different reason.

Update 4/17/2023: Physical therapy team (130) were amazing, friendly, and really show that they’re passionate and happy with their job. I have yet to find anything negative about Palo Alto and SJ VAs.

However, some phone operators sound like they hate their job, don’t base your review cause of the phone operators.

My experience at the VA San Jose has been great. The Staff is very helpful in making the transition a smooth one for me. They are very friendly to talk to and very professional. I have a tough time with change but the VA San Jose Clinic makes you feel that you are in the right place to receive all you medical needs. Great job VA team.

This was my very first time seeking VA health service, and I was so impressed with everyone's professionalism. At first, the receptionist told me that I canceled my own appointment; which was rather weird; but we quickly resolved the issue, and I was seen in the optometry department. The doctors were thorough in their examinations, and optical sales rep Tooba was very informational and very helpful. I can't believe I was paying so much for eye care elsewhere. Thank you all
