My request to see a specific doctor for possible MASTOIDITIS, that my primary physician recomended was ignored because Dr Freeman wouldn't release me from his care as I saw him when
I had an earache last summer, no issues with the ear.
I now 8 DAYS LATER, FINALLY GOT A CALL FROM THEM!
Bottom line,
THEY REALLY DON'T CARE!

Arrived early, filled out my daughter's paperwork prior to the appointment time, and waited. And waited, and waited... Finally I told the front desk we were leaving. Received a bill two weeks later in the amount of $250 for a missed appointment. I called and spoke with Sandra Moz; she informed me although I had waited beyond my appointment time, leaving before being seen by the doctor was a considered a canceled appointment, though she wouldn't disclose how long I was expected to wait even after I asked several times. Although I signed the Physician-Patient Arbitration Agreement at the time, I sent a signed letter by certified mail within the 30 day grace period and revoked the agreement.

The nightmare just never ends with this place! I had my tonsils removed by Dr. Clifford Amoils over two years ago. Today, I somehow received ANOTHER BILL from that surgery—for the nurse anesthetist, who should have been paid YEARS AGO!! I had surgery in June 2021. I am now 28 and have not even been on the insurance I was on at the time for over 2 years.

Dr. Amoils has a smug, cloying personality but at least did a fine job on my surgery. He’s friendly, but in a way you can tell is about his own ego. His schedule coordinator, Tiffany, was a complete jerk. Before the surgery, my mother called with several questions. Tiffany ultimately answered her, but was exceptionally rude—sighing and replying sarcastically—because she decided I was an adult and should be calling myself. I was working, so it was simply easier for my mother to call. None of this was Tiffany’s business. She was nice in person, but acted like a bratty teen over the phone and made the experience deeply unpleasant. The questions revolved around insurance approving my surgery and were important, but clearly Tiffany only saw them as a bother.

I was also bothered when I had to drive to Antelope Valley for the surgery and discovered the surgery center was co-owned by Dr. Amoils himself. It felt very underhanded to never be told we were making a long drive so that Dr. Amoils could claw more money from my insurance. Shady behavior from a man who should already be making plenty of money.

My mother and I were told the day of my surgery that we would pay for the facility that day, which we did, and later only receive bills for the doctor and nurse anesthetist. We paid anything we were sent. All should be settled. We had already been blown away by the EOB for over $87,000 for a quick, routine surgery (with charges being particularly high for the facility that Dr. Amoils himself co-owns—can’t you just feel the smarmy, scammy vibe?). Nevertheless, we received a bill in the mail 18 MONTHS LATER for almost $300. The surgery had happened so long ago that initially we didn’t even understand what appointment or procedure the bill could possibly be for.

I called to inquire about that bill and was told that the surgery center had switched billing providers sometime in that past 18 months and bills that should’ve gone out over the past year had not. My father chose to accept this and paid the bill. That charge was allegedly for the doctor.

Again, we should be done paying for this nonsense. Now, it’s OCTOBER 2023 and we have received ANOTHER BILL in the mail, this time for over $600 for a nurse anesthetist. After calling both my prior insurance company and the billing company for Dr. Amoils (Advanced Pain Medical Group), the over $600 bill was corrected to just under $60. Thank god we called, because I doubt if we had paid $600+ we would’ve been refunded at all. It may not meet the legal definition, but the word ā€˜extortion’ comes to mind readily.

There’s more I could say, but overall my experience with SCENT has been an unending nightmare. Apparently the statute of limitations for medical billing in California is 4 years. I hope to never hear from SCENT or Advanced Pain Medical Group in the future, but especially not in the next 2 years before said statute for my tonsillectomy expires.

the lady who schedules surgeries is really mean and never willing to help or assist the patients. The staff in general are nice but don't know what're they doing.

They deleted my review. I came in to see Dr Amolis for a problem I have been having for ONE year. As soon as he told me I was pregnant he kept insisting my problem was due to pregnancy. I mentioned many times how can this be since this problem has been ongoing for a year and he said it’s common with pregnancy. Avoid this place. He also mentioned I’m just gonna have to hang in there without doing any additional testing besides looking in my affected ear for 2 seconds and looked up my nose.

I went in because I’ve lost my voice. I said it feels like a lump of phlegm is stuck on my voice box. All they heard was I have a lump.
The doctor rubbed my throat for lumps and didn’t find any, so he had me get scans done. 2 days later they called me back in. The doctor again felt my neck and throat for lumps, none detected.
He went out of the room for a few minutes and then comes in with the ā€œbad news faceā€ā€.
He then tells me I have cancer and my entire life is about to change. He then asks me when I first noticed a lump. I said never, there is no lump. He then asks about pain, I said there is no pain. All of the sudden he says ā€œmaybe it’s an infection.
I feel he heard lump and immediately saw $$$$’s. I will never go back to SCENT because I feel that they are looking for a reason to say it’s cancer and make that dollar. If it is just an infection, and I did go through chemo, it would’ve really messed me up, and why was the first thing they said was cancer before saying that it could be an infection. I just don’t trust them!!!

When they confirmed the appointment, I informed them about my medical exemption from wearing a mask. I didn't want to make a 45-minute drive only to be met with a surprise. Upon arrival at my appointment, I explained my exemption to the person at the front desk. She inquired about proof, to which I suggested she could contact my doctor for verification. She then requested that I wait outside the office, which was uncomfortably hot. Nonetheless, I decided to wait inside the corner of the office since I was the only person in the reception area.

After approximately 10 minutes of waiting, the front desk called my name and informed me that they couldn't accommodate me without a mask, despite my earlier explanation about the medical exemption. Frustrated, I left the office. My question is, why did they waste 1.5 hours of my time if they weren't willing to see me without a mask? It seems like they don't value their customers' time. This experience reflects poorly on their customer service.

This place is a rip off.
They don’t even deserve one star but I guess I have do one so this can be posted.
They’re trying to make money off their customers by changing crazy fees. 250 if you miss your appointment 100 for cancellation. Wow
Then on top of that you have sign your rights away if they do malpractice on you.
I wonder why.
