Doctor was good but billing is horrible. I was billed $500 to meet with a doctor about my cough. It was through their healthexpress program since my primary care doctor was busy and I ended up meeting with a Physician Assistant, not an MD. When I called to inquire about the $500 bill, I was told their system often accidentally puts Physician Assistant as Specialist and they would submit it for review. A couple months later I called again since I saw no changes. I was told the review was rejected by my insurance. Then I called again for more information on my itemized billing. He informed me that all the information I’ve been told is false and the bill is correct. Not only did they lead me on a wild goose chase, I’m being billed $500! I should’ve just gone to urgent care

I’m surprised to see so many negative reviews for this Scripps location. We live about 7 minutes away and I absolutely love the Carmel Valley clinic. I’ve been here multiple times for prenatal OBGYN visits, labs, as well as pediatric check-ups and everything has been great. It’s always easy to schedule/change appointments, the staff gets back to you right away, I’ve never had to wait more than 15 minutes (in fact, most of the time I was seen right after I arrived), and everyone has been really pleasant and friendly. They have a pretty big lab as well with very short wait time, if any, and extended hours (until 7pm). The offices are also more modern as compared to other Scripps locations I’ve been too. Parking is also free and relatively easy, which is a huge plus.

I've had an okay experience with medical staff, but scheduling team, receptionists, and staff responsible for messaging through the app have all been unprofessional. Scheduling every appointment was a headache, with many mistakes made. A receptionist once failed to check me in properly for my appointment, which resulted in me waiting for an hour in the waiting room, only to have to flag down my provider as she was leaving for the day. Ran into billing issues here as well. I don't like leaving negative reviews but this was just such a uniquely bad experience.

I had a very disappointing experience at Dr. Mitch Biermann’s office. I was only 5-8 minutes late for my appointment (they never specify the room so I was looking a 2nd floor and then at 3rd floor), but after registering at the reception and waiting for 15 minutes, a nurse informed me that the doctor would not see me and asked me to reschedule for two months later. This was incredibly frustrating, especially since I have often waited 30 to 45 minutes in past visits to Scripps.
The inconsistency in handling late arrivals versus making patients wait is unacceptable. If they had informed me upfront that I wouldn’t be seen, it would have saved me time and frustration. This experience has significantly impacted my perception of the clinic’s professionalism and patient care.
While the clinic’s location is convenient, I will be taking my business elsewhere. It feels like Scripps prioritizes their business over patient care.

I had an annual checkup more than 10 days ago. Today I received a bill charges me for office visit. I recalled when I checked in, I had to sign a piece of paper says any extra services will pay extra. It is NEW requirement. I waited for more than 45 minutes because the receptionist forgot to check me in, according to the nurse. I am not sure what was going on. It is the nurse or the receptionist mistake. I waited in the room for about 5 minutes then my doctor showed up. He is a decent doctor and I have seen him for almost 3 years after my long time doctor retired. I am happy with his medical care. He went over my annual checkup procedure as usual. I do not have any serious sickness that I need to discuss with him. He asked me do I have any questions and I recalled to tell him I have no questions. I left the doctor office after seeing the doctor for about 20-30 minutes. Today I received a bill to ask to pay the copayment for $35 as office visit on the top of my annual checkup visit. I got really mad about it. Scripps has violated the ACA law. The annual checkup should be covered free of charge per the law. I did not ask my doctor for any treatments beyond the annual checkup. Scripps is trying to make extra money on its patients even Scripps knows it is violated the law but they asked patients to sign the paper in order to workaround the law. Annual checkup is should be all about patient health. Why scripps is inventing extra charge codes to insurance companies? It operates the clinics like a criminal organization, steal hard earn money from its patients and absolutely not a non-profit organization. I will file a complaint to State agencies as well as the IRS to ask them to investigate Scripps business practices and billing. I discussed my case with my neighbors on the internet and they all said they felt in the same trap setup by Scripps. I wish I can give Scripps Zero star instead 1 star.

I had issues with my billing of annual check as well. I went for annual check and got billed twice. The first time I only have two vaccines, then the second time they billed as follow up which will not covered by my insurance, I I only had vaccinations in my first visit, I don’t know what I can follow up. I tried to communicate, someone called me admitted that this is an issue from their clinical team and said they will call me back. Later, I found bills were sent out to collections and they claimed they did not do anything wrong with the bills. I ended up paying $350 for annual check and wasted my time to communicate. I posted here and to warn anyone is planning to get annual check. Don’t trust that when they say if you don’t want to 3 vaccines for once, they can come back another time, they will also say that your second time will be covered since it is annual check. Don’t surprise they charge you twice and no patient care.

The worse service I’ve ever received and very disappointed. My son had to see a different dermatologist to change Rx that clearly was not working after 3 months & stated that the RX should be changed if not working after 2 months. Telederm appointment were available one month out with this office, this office clearly does not care about his patients. I’ve been very happy with all of the Scripps personnel/physicians outside of this particular office.

I recently went to a check up and while the location and building were nice I have to say the provider assistant I met with was not very personable. I felt like she was annoyed with my questions and kept looking at the clock during my appointment, she goes well we are almost out of time you’ll have to schedule a follow up to speak more about your issues.
