My husband and l and our two dogs stayed there over the holidays, and it was lovely. The people that work at the inn are extremely friendly and helpful, and our room was clean and comfortable. The town of Cayucos is very dog friendly, and there were many guests with dogs at the hotel. I look forward to visiting again in the future!

We spent 3 nights at Shoreline Inn. The place is nice in terms of location, access to the beach, and friendliness of front desk staff, but the $26+ “bed tax” on top of the nightly rate was not a good surprise. There’s no amenities except free coffee/tea. There’s no A/C except a dirty tower fan in the room. Pismo and Cambria are better places to visit and stay based on value, cost and dining options.

I debated for a while whether or not to write this review. I figured I would to warn other non-dog pet owners that decide to visit and also get fooled under the hotel policies advertising of them being 'pet' friendly in general when they are not. They are simply a dog friendly hotel.||The weekend before last, I came to this hotel with my significant other and our two pets; dog and cat. Both well traveled and not new to hotels or Airbnb's, we checked in with no issues and moved our stuff and pets to our room. We took off our cat's leash so she could get the lay of the land of the hotel room while we unpacked our pets items so they could have a more comfortable stay. We haven't been in our room for 30 minutes yet and we start calling for our cat, we hear a scraping sound but think nothing of it. Neither of us have left the room so we know although our cat isn't coming when we call that she HAS to be in the room so we look her toys we brought from home and any possible hiding spot she could be in but with no luck. We hear the scraping sound again. There was a slight panic since now it had been 15 minutes with us being unable to find our cat and she isn't coming when we call which is unusual for her. I check behind the TV stand yet again but this time with a flashlight and there it is. A hole in the wall, large enough for any curious feline to go into, now that the mystery of where the cat had gone was figured out. We figured out that this scraping sound we were hearing all along, was our cat's harness rubbing along the sheet rocks of our hotel room as she moved through a completely different area of the wall then where this random hole in our hotel room was.||After another 20 minutes of us trying to lure cat back to the wall where the hole was with tapping and knocking and no luck, we contact the front desk. We get told they are going to do some research then come up that must have been nearly another 10 minutes when the front desk person Robin and the front desk manager whose name begins with C came to our room. They check that there is indeed a hole and the front desk manager proceeds to tell us to set food out in front of the hole to lure our cat out but if they have to cut a hole into the wall to take her out, it would be our responsibility to cover the cost. I argued with her back and forth about this being a PET friendly hotel and obviously was NOT due to this hole in the wall which she responded that it was my duty as a pet owner to keep my pet out of walls.... How am I to know there is a random hole in my hotel room to keep my pet out of? The entire interaction with the front desk manager was her being rude and taking no accountability for this random hole in the wall as a representative of a PET FRIENDLY hotel, putting all the blame on us as pet owners. She responded to me that this hotel is primarily a dog friendly hotel, they don't expect dog's to get back behind here (the TV stand) and get into this hole. We got nowhere with this conversation or rather argument with the front desk manager and all we could do was wait for our cat to figure out to get out of the wall on her own. Happy news is that after 2.5 hours, our cat came, I am assuming, falling down due to the thumping sounds before she came out of the hole since it was a straight shot up when we looked into the hole.||We later found out this hole was due to them planning to add another outlet but who knows how long they had left that hole unattended and open for other pets to get into. The views were lovely and being right off the beach was lovely though. After cat had gotten out we called the front desk to see about getting the hole covered. Robin, who was nothing but sweet the entire time, came up with a thick disposable plate and a lot of tape to cover the hole. We got no offer to stay in another room or discounts for the trouble. So if you stay in room 129, or any other room, beware and check behind the TV stands and any other furniture to be sure they also don't have any random holes in the walls that your pet or even children can get into.

Although this motel is in the perfect location, it did not work out due to my friend and I not being able to physically stay there. Because my friend is in her 80's and walks with a cane, whenever we travel or try a new restaurant, I always call ahead of time due to her limited physical ability. I spoke with Brenna for almost 10 minutes when making the four night reservation. I went into great detail on my friends' ability. I told her we needed a bottom floor room and also told her I travel with a porta-potty to place over the existing toilet because she cannot stand up from normal height toilets. Brenna stated the one queen and one double room would be perfect for us. My dog was also traveling with us. She did explain the 72-hour cancellation rule. I thought, what could go wrong? I read a number of the reviews on Yelp and Travel Advisor, including some of the one-star reviews which stated issues people had when arriving and them leaving, or being told to leave (you must advise them if you have a child as they have certain rooms that allow children) and being charged for their reservation. In all my years of traveling, I never thought to ask the height of the beds.||As soon as I opened the door to the room, there was an issue. The beds are extremely low. There was absolutely no way my friend was going to be able to use that room. I was told they had one ADA room (normal height beds, but the shower was in the bathtub, which isn't really ADA, even if there are bars in it) available that night, but we would have to move back to the original room after that as they were booked for the rest of the week. And, if we left we still had to pay for the week. We stayed in the original room to see if we could manage it. It was a nightmare!! My friend was unable to stand up from the bed. When she had to get up to use the restroom during the night, she had to wake me up so I could help her stand. ||After that one night, I spoke with the Assistant Manager. He stated that I would have to pay for those nights even though we couldn't physically stay there. He charged us $219 cancellation fee and told me he was doing me a favor. The total charges for that ONE night was $708.11. I'm really disgusted. ||When you make a reservation for multiple nights, the first night is $389. For the four nights it's $261.50. When they sent the confirmation e-mail there was no breakdown. Just the cost of the four nights and the average.||I understand they are a small business and depend on people showing for their reservation and we had every intention of staying there. BUT, we could not physically stay there because of the low beds. It's a mattress on plywood that has been painted around the mattress and the corners are not rounded off. Expect bruises from running into those corners.||The other down points: the wall unit that you see in the pictures is your closet. Well, on one end of it you can hang some clothes. The rest consists of the TV, microwave, coffee machine, and refrigerator. Very tiny room. I had to store my luggage in the car. One of the two windows was stuck half-way open.||The nice part is the room faces the ocean and they have plenty of grass for dogs.

We will come here again! We wanted away from the heat, to sit on our balcony and be in front of the ocean. Shoreline Inn was perfect for that.
The staff was wonderful, our room was exactly what we expected from the online description and the location is right next to everything. The hotel public space with tables and chairs was right below or room but, everyone was respectful and 9pm quiet hours are enforced.
We’ll be back.

Pleasantly surprised by this little hotel. Stopped without reservations while on a road trip. Room was spacious and clean. Had everything we needed. The front desk staff was FANTASTIC! Welcoming and so friendly. We will be planning a trip back the next time we come into town.

Beautiful location, great views and clean room. Only complaint was Gina at the front desk was offensive and rude to us. Not an ideal greeting when you come to the beach for a relaxing vacation.

We loved this hotel. Staff are friendly rooms well cared for and have a microwave and refrigerator. Our room had an oceanfront view with a balcony. They are pet friendly but there is an additional charge.
Bed was comfortable. Large walk in shower.
I would stay here again
