Overall: doctors great, back room staff great, receptionists are… obtuse, lack empathy and need tech to limit contact with patients. They are the tone setters and set a tone for a bad experience.

Appt: first visit, 1 + 2 year old. Told to bring both children (which was odd)

Walk in: brought both in and was instantly told my 2 year old was not needed today. This went against what I was told and, any parent would know, dealing with 2 toddlers v 1 is a big difference. I was greeted with a lack of empathy by the reception team and were extremely obtuse at the situation. We carried on though.

Tech: coming from Sutter health, my bar is pretty high on tech regarding patient intake. Plus, it’s 2024 right? Dealing with two toddlers in the waiting room, I was met with a stack of papers to sign. What? There is no way I can get this done (and I ended up not getting it done and now have to mail it in!).

Back room experience: Dr. Curtis is great, kind, approachable, and just down to earth. Back room staff were also great and empathetic to me and the kids. Bummer as they had to pick up the pieces left by the front staff.

Recommendation: it’s a small practice, I get that limits them but it also makes the able to make changes without too much red tape. By looking at the other comments, some hard decisions need to be made to right the ship at reception. I imagine they can do that quickly and they need to as it’s a small town and word travels fast. Lastly, get better tech - digital intakes, at least.

Doctors are good, front staff is awful
Looking for a different practice to take out family to.
I am 40 years old and I have been going here since I was young. Never had issues with this office up until a year ago.
I can never get in same day anymore for ear infections or other illnesses that require medicine. I am told to go to urgent care.
I also needed a medication refilled and I was told I needed an appointment… but the next appointment I could get was 2 months out. Not impressed. Maybe they need more staff, or if they cannot accommodate their current patients, stop taking new clients

Wish I could post 0 stars. What a horrible experience. Was told they were accepting new patients and show up for them to change their mind. After going through the pain of changing my provider with my insurance. Front desk staff has no empathy

I have been taking my son to see Dr Joyce since he was a baby and I absolutely love her as a pediatric doctor. I highly recommend sierra care Physicans! They are quick, respectful and super friendly! Dr Joyce always listened to my concerns about my kid. If you’re looking for a pediatric doctor/ office for your kids, choose sierra care physicians!

I have been apart of Sierra Care for many years. My entire family has been as well. I cant say enough about the quality of care we have been given. Dr. Xiong takes her time with her patients and actually listens to them. I feel she goes above and beyond to make sure I get the care that I need. I have had the opportunity to see other doctors as well at Sierra Care and I can honestly say the care I have received has been just as amazing. Dr. Mara, Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Burt have all given me or my family members the same quality of care and I wouldn't trust anywhere else to take myself or my family but Sierra Care Physicians!

I cannot say enough about Dr. Pa Soua Xiong, and Sierra Care Physicians, but I will try here!
Dr. Xiong is profesional yet personable. she really listened to my Mother and all of her concerns. my mom is 93 and has a breadth of knowledge about her care and how she needs to be treated. My Mom loves Dr. Xiong, she felt “seen” and “heard” with Dr. Xiong, and that is saying a lot! Her trust in the doctor, and in Sierra Care Physicians office allows her, and me, to relax knowing our medical needs are being handled and that we are in good, no, great hands! The only job we have now is to heal.

My highest regard, support, and recommendation of Dr. Pa Soua Xiong still stands. I would recommend her without hesitation. And will follow her wherever she ends up.

Doctors are all excellent, but the receptionists and front desk staff are extremely and shockingly rude, condescending and unprofessional - and have been for years with every single member of my family & all of our friends who are patients here. There is zero supervision of their receptionist's tone of voice or behavior -as their conduct is consistently appalling. Even the simplest appointment or testing inquiries are treated like personal insults to front desk staff. I am reviewing here on behalf of my family and friend network - because if any of us mention this conduct to a doctor, somehow, we in turn are blamed by the front desk staff. Doctors- you are excellent at your jobs! Please put a comment box in the appointment rooms or take feedback from patients about your front desk staff - as it is a hostile battle zone to get passed them to the appointment room to see you. Your front desk staff are some of the rudest in the county!

Doctors are awesome, all of the MA’s I’ve had experiences with have been great too. One woman specifically at the front desk is just straight up rude & clearly burnt out as she had been working here way too long. I just had my first child and took him to this office and this woman has been working here since I went as a kid, I think her name is Linda. I feel sad for people who have to deal with her because the office itself is probably the best in Grass Valley.
