Very professional, informative, and helpful staff all around (from the front desk to the doctor and assistant doctors). They use the latest technology and were able to tell me more about the health of my eyes than any other optometrist I’ve ever been to before. They also didn’t try to force me to buy anything from them. They gave the option, but they also just told me my options with insurance and let me decide what I wanted to do. They explained things I didn’t know about contacts and helped me realize that you don’t need such a high power prescription for the contacts as for the glasses (since contacts are closer to the eyes). The exam was very thorough and the Doctor wrote me 2 contacts prescriptions just in case the one wasn’t good enough for me (in addition to the glasses prescription). It was an amazing experience all around. The staff up front did an amazing job explaining my insurance to me also, and let me choose how I wanted to use the money they give me for these appointments.

To show that my review is balanced and I’m not just saying this because I have any personal friends over there, I will say one thing that could’ve used improvement (but it’s still 5 stars from me because of the above that I’ve mentioned): one of the ladies at the front desk, the one who took me back and greeted me, acted a little impatient and rude with me at times and seemed to rush me. I think they were supposed to send me forms to fill out before my appointment. She claimed they sent them to me, but I never received them. So she had to resend them to me. I got them right away and filled them out in the office, but this delayed my appointment time by around half an hour. But this wasn’t a huge deal, like I said. Still 5 stars and an overall amazing experience! I would definitely recommend this optometry service!

Read Carefully:

My first appointment with this office since Dr Rollins retired. The front office staff was very friendly but not very confident or knowledgeable.

The actual Doctor who saw me… absolutely no introduction whatsoever, I still don’t know who (he) was? Appointment was fairly thorough, but not a very warm/fuzzy feeling like with Rollins.

Also, no mention of (fees/costs), which were much more than Rollins; for JUST the appointment, with NO discussion of my lenses? I advised that I needed a temporary lens because I was out (and my prescription changed), but they didn’t even bother to discuss/ask about my new prescription or the amount/type of lenses I needed! Very lacking to say the least.

I actually had to contact them to inquire about whether my new lenses were included in the cost of the appointment: they were not!

Honestly, I would not recommend this office, which is a shame, because the transition from Rollins should have been seamless.

All employees were very nice and professional. Made me feel welcome. All tests performed were excellent some I had never had done at other optometry places I have been. Everyone of the tests were explained to me before performing and the clinicians were very good at explaining results.

The office was very professional. It was a great experience. I even got to pick out my new glasses after many attempts to find the perfect pair. (Staff was very patient with me.) We recomed them for all those in need of eye exam or glasses.

I felt the exam was Profesional but the pricing of the prescription was way above what I have ever paid with insurance. The same basic glasses two years ago with my optometrist Dr.Rollins was about $300.00. I was asked this year to pay $940.00. I pay for good insurance premiums and must find someone more affordable. I would not recommend unless you are wealthy.

Very Happy I was recommended to silver Strand Optometry from my previous doctor at Channel Islands Optometry. Everyone here is very patient, kind, and helpful! I am a difficult case with strabismus, dry eye and a severe astigmatism. Dr. Castillo has helped me, and my family members with glaucoma.

Kimberly Castillo was off the day of my visit. I received an appointment due to a cancellation and a fill-in doctor this day. Dr. Rolling was very thorough, even requested some reports from California Retina Centre where Dr Castillo had referred me two years ago. Dr. Rolling is very personable, took his time with me and I wish that he were there full-time. He would definitely be my doctor of choice.
