We just visited the new urgent care in Grand Bay. So thankful they were open on a Sunday! The new building is beautiful and we were welcomed by staff from our usual clinic. We were brought to a room so quick I barely had time to fill out our paperwork. We saw Justin Stokes. He took the time to sit down and listen to our concerns and made my little girl feel very comfortable. He talked to me and explained the reasons for her condition and told me how to help the symptoms. Overall, we had a 10/10 experience and will use them again in the future!

Great service right by the house! They truly care about their patients and will get you better ASAP. I had a really bad case of the flu and they took amazing care of me and gave me fluids right in office I will always recommend them!
My Quest
I’m sorry to have to give a negative review, however, this facility has truly earned this from me. I showed up to the brand new walk in facility and filled out my paperwork. Nothing unusual about a visit to a new place, and shortly after completing the forms my name was called. I followed the nurse and went through the usual height/ weight check, vitals check, what’s the reason for your visit questions; you know the routine. I informed the nurse of my discomfort, inability to catch my breath, sleeplessness, and terrible dry cough. That’s where things began to be less than desirable. The lady Dr or NP came in to check me out and listened to my chest and lungs and heart. Gave an immediate diagnosis of Bronchitis and submitted a prescription for over the counter cough syrup and said it doesn’t seem to be that bad of a case and there shouldn’t be any reason for any further tests or chest x-rays. I thanked her and went on my way believing things would improve in a few days.
12 days later (Monday) I returned, waited at the door for them to open. I was early and they opened on time so no worries there. I signed in and was seated as usual, and heard my name get called shortly thereafter. Same routine with the vitals and questioning the reason for my visit again. I informed the male Dr or NP this time of my symptoms, which this time included chest pain, bloating, and difficulty urinating. He seemed to listen understandingly and listened to my chest, lungs, and heart. I was then diagnosed with Acute Viral Bronchitis, given a steroid shot, a prescription for antibiotics and a more potent cough syrup. I was also informed again that no other tests or x-rays would be necessary and to give the meds time to work. I thanked them again for their kindness and professionalism and went on my way. Picked up my prescriptions and headed home.
Monday night I was able to sleep as long as I sat up and lay my head on a table reminding me of many a days in high school. I woke up a few short hours later gasping for air and unable to catch my breath. This is where things really began to not add up. I opened the app and signed in to see what had been discussed with me for fear that in my tired state I may have forgotten some pertinent information.
This is where I discovered that BOTH professionals I had seen, found NO problems with my heart or elevated blood pressure and that my tonsils and adenoids were on each of their lists of things that appeared NORMAL in their reports. I found that curious as I have had those removed when I was 11 years old. This information was asked on the medical history paperwork that I completed upon my first visit.
Three more sleepless nights garnering a combined total of 3 hours of sleep in 10 minute increments left me furious and helpless.
I was miserable, tired, worn down, and feeling awful. I felt as if something in my insides had come apart, so I drove myself to the ER Thursday night.
The staff at the ER did what they do, and the very first thing they did when my name was called was a chest x-ray. The chest x-ray showed my entire chest cavity filled with fluid and my heart enlarged, and in A-Fib. I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, A-Fib, extremely high heart rate of 186 BPM, and high blood pressure of 166/133. My ejection fraction was 10-15%!!!! I was so dangerously close to a complete heart attack that I spent 8 days in the hospital undergoing heart caths, barrages of medications, EKG’s, heart monitoring, and all sorts of other tests.
The end result is that I now have to wear a defibrillator, tweak my diet, be mindful of exerted effort, exposure to sun and heat, and hopefully get well enough to live long enough to have more procedures done in 3 months.
A simple chest x-ray and a tiny bit more attention to details could have made a drastic difference in my “Bronchitis “!
I have hope now, though. I HOPE the staff there sees this review and improves their care practices. I HOPE that I will continue to heal and have successful treatment with the cardiologist team caring for me.
