The mental health facility in Luverne, Alabama, South Central Mental Health, is an absolute disgrace. The workers, particularly Sandy Flowers and Brittany, are some of the worst professionals I’ve encountered. They lack the compassion and expertise needed to properly support patients. Instead of advocating for those in their care, they seem to actively work against the best interests of the patients, often neglecting their duties and responsibilities. Communication and collaboration among the staff are virtually nonexistent, making it impossible for them to develop individualized solutions or treatment plans. Mental health is complex, and it takes time to find the right medication or therapeutic approach for each patient. Unfortunately, this facility does not prioritize patient care or invest the necessary time to explore these critical aspects of treatment. They don’t seem to care about the patients' well-being, leaving people in vulnerable states with very limited options. Reporting them to the board and the department of justice is best. They literally tried to advise me to not go back to a hospital, which is illegal, and In an area where mental health resources are already scarce, the lack of support and professionalism at this facility is downright pathetic. Patients deserve better, and it's shameful that such substandard care is allowed to continue in a place where it’s most needed.

I want to give this place zero stars. They tried turning me away when I was really struggling with my mental health and they violated my HIPPA rights. Go somewhere else where they care about helping people and won’t commit crimes.

Mental health in the Luverne area has shown my family they care nothing about the patient or family. My brother has been in and out of a facility for 18 years. The facility does not get to know the patient or even communicate with other facilities about the patient issues. They put a band aid on the proble m and allow him to saw I'll stay with a giraffe and they are quick to let the patient out without talking to family members. Family members don't know the patient is getting out and he can kill everyone. No heart at all. Even when you ask a therapist to call you or a doctor to call you...I'm told ... They won't call you, which I figured that. Mental health is a sad case when they will not make sure a patient has out patient commitment and a stable place to stay when they don't have anywhere to go. What about help with substance abuse. I wish the doctor and therapist would allow him to go stay with them for six months instead of 5 days. I'll tell the world, do not go into a profession if you are not passionate and knowledgeable of your field.
