I've been going to Southbridge Interventional Pain Clinic since April 2012 after my previous Pain Management Doctor stopped returning my phone calls & his office staff refused to make a follow-up appointment for me! I was in excruciating pain & could barely move. My previous doctor had me so strung out on Oxycontin (120 mg/day) & Oxycodone (80 mg/day) that I barely answered to or recognized my own name. I ended up in the Emergency Department on a Thursday after not realizing I took WAY TOO MUCH Ambien over a weekend because I was way too strung out on the 2 types of Oxy!!! I immediately DITCHED my old Pain Management Doctor & was referred to Dr. Farid. It was the ABSOLUTE BEST decision I could've made!

I have an EXTREMELY COMPLICATED medical case that causes me to have EXCRUCIATING pain throughout my entire body. When I first saw Dr. Farid, I spent my days in the dark, curled up in the fetal position on the couch, balling my eyes out!!! That was my routine for the first 2 years of getting really sick! I walked into Southbridge Interventional Pain Clinic with controlled optimism for my first visit. Dr. Farid spent lots of time with me that day trying to understand my disease processes in order to determine the best course of treatment going forward. We started out with two specific types of medication, hoping they would help alleviate the majority of my pain. The meds helped, but not nearly enough! The next month at my appointment, we re-evaluated my case & moved on to two new medications. JACKPOT!!! The new meds worked & got my pain down from way off the chart (the smiley face chart used to determine how bad your pain is) to a bearable 9½ on the chart. After a few months of being on the new medications, we began discussing the next steps. Dr. Farid felt that Radio Frequency Ablation would be of benefit to me. I decided to follow his advice & have the RFA done. Once we determined that injections would alleviate some of my pain, we scheduled my first RFA for the following month. He was right!!! The RFA procedure helped alleviate more of the pain in my back! We scheduled the next 3 quadrants of my back over my next 3 monthly follow-up appointments. I'm still seeing Dr. Farid & having RFA's done on my back as needed in combination with receiving pain meds. The combination of treatments helps keep my pain levels bearable (somewhere down between 8½-9½) each & every month.

Dr. Farid, his Medical Assistants, the past Physician's Assistant & everyone in the front office are very kind, compassionate & empathetic!!! They all care very much & go out of their way to help, whether it's fitting you in because something has changed for you & you really need to be seen, getting an answer to a question you may have, helping to reschedule your appointment if the one you have no longer works for you or because you're ill & can't make it into the office when you're scheduled to, or anything else you run into. Dr. Farid is extremely kind, empathetic, caring, compassionate & an expert in his field!!! I got very lucky back in April 2012 when I was referred to him & found an amazing doctor who was determined to find relief for me, but who was also interested in me as a person, what was going on in my personal life, not just my disease processes! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, Dr. Farid & the entire staff of Southbridge Interventional Pain Clinic, you've all played a huge role in giving me back part of my life!!!!! 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼

Most of these reviews over 1 star are definitely staff members. This is one of the worst places to go if you are looking for help. Yes, pain medicine isn't ideal for most cases but plenty of patients actually need it so they can live their daily lives. My FIL had tried all the things this doctor asked him to try, he said he would try medication if shots didn't work. The cortisone helps for a day and the electric shots put my FIL at risk as he is very prone to seizures and heart attacks. This place lied to my very sick father and so I felt it necessary to write a review. Not every patient is looking to get high off medicine but this doctor judges you harshly. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!

I have been a patient of Dr. Farid for eight years now. He has helped stop the intense pain i have had in my neck and back sine a car accident I was involved in on 12/2/1988. He is very professional and caring. I have gone in hardly able to stand and after an injection administered by him walk out feeling pain free. I must say that after getting to know Dr. Farid He is not one of those doctors that just want to prescribe narcotics. so if you're truly needing pain relief He is the doctor for you, but if you're looking for a drug dealer then look somewhere else.

Those who know of me know that my chronic pain conditions are excruciating to the highest degree, and if I can help just one person by writing this, here goes: Don't waste your time here.

If you have a severe and complicated issue that involves most or all of your body, then this place cannot help you. They will sit you down after a long wait, tell you that they don't prescribe medications, schedule you for shots months out at a time, which don't work and are known to cause quite a lot of harm and do very little good, if any at all, and then prescribe you medicine (contradiction?), and then scoot you out the door as quickly as possible. If you're coming here for pain relief, then I'm sorry to say that only those with uncomplicated and localized issues will have a chance at finding relief here. And at that, don't expect relief within the first 3-6 months of making an appointment - between the shots and different meds, it could take literally years to get the right spot and combo to actually get any relief. The lucky ones find relief within the first few visits.

And no, they do not disclose any of this when you first come in.

If you're like me, and you experience very high pain levels on a daily basis, then god bless you, never give up. Keep fighting, and keep looking. Relief is out there, you just have to find it. The right doctor, the right treatment, the right medicine combo, etc. You'll find it.

True story as other reviews have stated in the past. This place is not ideal at all, as they only offer cortisone shots, you show up and there is more paperwork than the dmv to fill out and then you wait well over an hour, again to find out they only do the shot. But your back is feeling better and so you think… I’ll think about this.

Fast forward and I’m now in severe pain again. I call 3 times. Hung up on each time. What sort of place is this? Not a professional one. So they get a one star.

My first appointment, Dr. Farid was an hour and a half late to see me. He spent 5 minutes with me and recommended a procedure involving some novicane shots as a test for nerve ablation. I left for 4 weeks with no help.

Today, I called an hour before my appointment to see if I should come on time or late considering the waiting room was very uncomfortable for someone with a broken back. The nice lady assured me that if I came on time I'd be seen right away.

When I showed up, there were two people in the waiting room, and I checked in. Then I sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes before I got up and reminded the secretary of our phone conversation. She brought me right in, sitting me in a room with the same chairs as the waiting room where I waited another 30 minutes before a nurse practitioner came in.

The NP wanted me to consent to 8 steroid injections, one at a time, under x-ray for a temporary relief test, FAR from the novicane shot the doctor talked about, and she admitted I may get more pain for a few days if it went poorly.

I refused treatment and the NP told me that an hour plus, wait is normal for this practice. Apparently injections for temporary relief pay the doctor very well.

The place is busy. But many people are in pain, especially via aging, injury, or whatnot. The Doctor and his staff are very caring. It is good to have this localized treatment of painful areas than taking pain meds which lose their effectiveness or become addicting.
