Disorganized and over burdened. I am grateful to access the best pediatric specialists for my medically complex child but the wait for specialists can be months and I have ended up fighting and losing for things like physical therapy and prescriptions for my child. I end up paying for things out of pocket because I don't have the fight nor the time. If I didn't need to access highly specialized providers at Stanford for my kid, I'd take Kaiser over SHCA any day, Kaiser is very well streamlined and you don't end up having to sort out bills yourself.

I have no complaints about the medical care that I have received. The problem is with the billing department! Twice now I have had significant issues. The first time my husband and I were billed almost two thousand dollars that we did not owe. It took 8 phone calls and a trip to Stanford billing department to resolve. Now it is happening again, only slightly different. I made a payment, was not credited, three phone calls later, plus sending proof of the payment to the address their representative provided, and they still refuse to acknowledge it. In fact, I was told today that they receive thousands of letters and may not have processed it yet. Seriously, a month later- there are significant issues going on with the way the billing department is run. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere for healthcare. It's not worth having a heart attack or stroke due to their incompetent and fraudulent billing department!

Don't recommend it. We can't find provided available. If you look into Stanford Docs, they only accept special cases and long waitlist. Trying waiting 4-6 months to find a peds in the local area. Horrible options for their employees. Stay away. We got this plans and in 2 years we had trouble getting finding pediatrician for our kids. Soooo frustrated.

The most horrible insurance place. It turns out that a medical emergency overseas is actually not covered. Highly disappointed. That on top of the long waiting times of course. If you have a choice, don’t!
