My mother moved into the Californian as an independent/retirement resident in late November of 2019 and we have had an unpleasant, stressful and extremely disappointing experience with the administrative team. They demonstrate a lack of integrity, customer service and communication skills. The "worker bees" (housekeeping, laundry, dining room staff and activity directors) are great. The food could use some work. She will be moving as she is no longer comfortable living there

I love this place. Everyone is very nice. When i went in the two ladies sitting in the lobby smiled and said hello. They seemed happy to be living there. The place is very clean and i was asked if i needed help by every person that walked past me as i waited to get my coffee before my tour. The tour was amazing. I was really surprised about how big the rooms are inside they looked smaller online. Every question i had was answered. The tour director is so sweet and friendly> She is very knowledgeable. Not only did I get to have lunch there today after my tour, the admissions manager herself offered to pick up my grandma and bring her to enjoy a meal too at any time. i think this is the perfect new home for my grandma and i honestly would love to come in and volunteer there also it seems like a fun place to work. Hope this is helpful

My mother ended up with panic attacks due to the staff not alerting me for three days that her medication did not arrive with her from the hospital. I finally got a call and had to drive to the pharmacy myself to get it for her. Thought she might have a UTI and on friday the head medical person told me they would fax her dr. office to see if they could get a urine sample test approved. On sunday when I called to check up the medical person there had no idea what I was talking about and could not find a fax that was sent. She was very apologetic and did it again for me. There seems to be bad communication between shifts and no notes on symptoms in my mother's file. They don't seem well equiped to handle medical issues. Also when the staff tried to move my mother up in her medical bed, they were grabbing her arms trying to pull her. I told them she was on blood thinners and not a good idea. I asked them if this is their regular procedure because it seemed very crude and unprofessional. Then one girl told me usually they have a mat under the patient and use this to slide them up. I told them to go get one and one of the girl's huffed and sighed loudly while she left the room to go get one. To top it off we decided a roomate would be a good idea because she felt isolated in her room - she ended up with a roomate from hell who kept the air conditioning blowing constantly and could care less that my mother was freezing. As you can see - we had a very bad experience!

Does not deserve any stars, but google won't let me give 0 stars. The management is awful and someone is working who isn't CPR certified or any other certifications, while charging $3000 per month to share with a random people. I fear for everyone who lives there.
