Mom goes here and her regular doctor has switched to pediatrics only. So the clinic is moving the patient to other doctors. About a week ago I called about a prescription needing to be renewed and they noticed they needed to see she was up for her 6 month check up. Her appointment was scheduled for tomorrow and they called today to cancel it and reschedule for July of next year. My mom is 80 diagnosed with congestive heart failure and diabetes and this would be one and half years not seeing a primary care doctor. Unacceptable we will be looking elsewhere

Maureen in Radiology was fantastic. She explained the process and made me feel comfortable about what she was doing. This is my second visit for testing and the staff is courteous and professional. They are very efficient as well!

Myself and my daughter see family doctor Hennessey Williams and over the years she has never struck me as personable. The office i have been foing to since i was a child is just local and I expected a bit more compassion regarding my experience since she was not my beginning doctor (mine left). Every interaction with her has felt like she would rather not be bothered. Especially when you have questions regarding you health outside of an appointment. I spoke with the clinic manager who did not make it any better and sided with her saying "every provider is different and I would need change my clinic location if i wasnt happy.I sm currently searching for a pediatrician and i will transition soon after.

My husband Wayne had to have a CT Scan of his chest. and from the moment we walked into the office everyone was so friendly. He told me they were polite and very helpful. You see he has a tumor under his right side of his ribs cage and has been in lots of pain from other scans done the day before on top of all the walking at the main campus of UAB. They did what ever they could to make him comfortable and helped him when he needed it. Also they did not keep us waiting and had us completely finished fast.

Disappointed with the medical care I received here. I often had to see a nurse practitioner (CRNP) instead of a Dr. They were not capable of treating my medical needs. Staff was lackluster. After about a year of this frustration, I found a great primary care Doc at an Ascension office that I've been very pleased with.

Issues with this office and UAB primary care in general:
* They didn't seem to really care. Lack of good follow-up on treatment and ongoing issues. Lack of coordination between visits seeing various NPs.
* You can not call them!!!!! -- you can only call and talk to someone at a "central UAB scheduling office" (probably folks working from home). These phone jockeys know nothing useful and are generally as close to helpless as possible while being able to do the basic essential task of scheduling an appt. It's literally not possible to call and speak to anyone at the local UAB primary care offices now. Same at other locations based on patients I know. This was another pleasant difference in my new doctor's practice - that I can easily call their office and speak to someone there in the office who knows what's going on.
* They have lots of CRNPs and want you to see them if something comes up and it's difficult to see your primary care doctor.
* I get the feeling that the current cohort of younger UAB primary care doctors are below average in terms of medical care competence. I suspect this is because it is a state run/funded medical organization and the primary care offices are staffed with people who are willing to work for less pay than other practices are able to pay. (IMHO) There are some great legacy UAB primary care doctors at some of the locations who are either not accepting new patients or you will be on a 6-15 month waiting list.

[ These comments do not reflect the experience and opinion that I have had with/of UAB specialists at other locations like downtown/main Kirkland Clinic, etc. I think the main UAB specialist medical departments and doctors are some of the best in the field and in the country! ]

I went to the outpatient lab here because I was tired of driving to Birmingham and parking in parking decks and dealing with traffic. This place had ample parking and I got checked in, blood drawn, and imaged in under an hour total. I have no complaints.

Mrs. Carla in Ultrasound is the kindest, most compassionate woman I have come across in the health care industry in all my years! ( 3 children so I've seen my share of Ultrasound techs) Today was my first time visiting UAB IN LEEDS and I'm so happy with the facility and the staff! Quick & easy process is amazing but seriously the bedside manner is topnotch! Just felt Mrs. Carla more than deserves to be recognized.? Thank you for making my day! - M. Cook
