Waited 2.5 hours for 4 x-rays to be looked at by a doctor, only to be told nothing could be done. During the 2.5 hours, no one came by the room to check on or ask if everything was OK. Doctor made a special point of ignoring us till every other patient in the ER was seen first. Cobra laws guarantee stabilizing care regardless of your ability to pay. Not at this place. This place is ONLY about money.

Edit: I received a reply for my review, asking me to call to discuss the issues I have with this hospitals terrible service. Even though I already listed the problems I had, evidently reading comprehension is not a prerequisite for employment with UABs Crack review response team. First of all, my fee for telephone consult with a poorly rated, time wasting, non help providing business, is $35,000 a minute. After experiencing the blatant , careless, time wasting.....TACTICS, by this bait and switch, criminal organization, I'll save you some money and list for you, in this public forum, everything I found wrong with your facility, so the public can read and make informed decisions about coming to your poorly managed, nonchalant, rather let you suffer in agonizing pain than lift a finger to concern themselves with honoring their hypocritical oaths, place of BUSINESS.

Arriving with my injured party, the aggravation and confusion began. Being a desperate driver, trying to get my step son the urgent care he needed for his wrenched and twisted knee, I had to negotiate a labyrinth of poorly marked, maze like roads to enter into the emergency parking area. With rogue stop signs placed randomly by the entry road, all seemingly designed to enhance aggravation. No real rhyme or reason for such ridiculously complex roads leading to the emergency room. What's wrong with a nice, clearly indicated road directly to the ER entrance? I'll tell you, ir doesn't fit with the aggravation scheme they have implemented. Next, the parking lot, piled high with cigarette butt's because UAB seems to be unaware of there being people who smoke. So a clearly marked, convenient smoking area by the ER would keep the trash, like cigarette butts, in your facilities parking lot, to a minimum.
Next, here is where I prove I give credit where it is due. I rushed in after negotiating the drive to the ER, looking for a wheelchair for my stepson. The security guard immediately confronted me, very abruptly but respectfully asking that I hold while he got me a wheelchair, which he did post haste. Didn't get his name, white guy, very professional. Later a black man security guard came on duty and was just as professional. Very respectful and nice security personnel. The young lady who took all my step sons I formation was also, first rate. Top shelf. Unfortunately that is where the positive part of my review ends. My step son waited about 20 minutes, then was taken for x-rays. 4 of them to be exact. Then he was put in a room in the ER. We then watched the one doctor on duty on a Friday night, tend to every other patient in the ER, multiple times without ever coming in to my step sobs room even once. I GUESS it isn't the on duty doc, to concern himself with the patients under his charge. It's very hard to evaluate a patient if you NEVER attend to them. Inaction by ER staff causes HARM. Lets all think back to the very first part of the hypocratic oath..."DO NO HARM"!!!!!
Next, let's talk about all the little signs hing everywhere. About how the staff loves getting rated a 10 on your self imposed rating system you badger every patient to fill out with glowing words and numbers. It is blatantly obvious these people do not understand what it means to EARN a good evaluation. I think the signs said, 8 isn't great, we live 10s. I had to stand in the door of the room my step son was put in, and look at, at leat 7 people, sitting on their butt's in the staff area centrally located in the ER, doing absolutely nothing but chit chatting about whatever. Literally surrounded by hurt people, doing absolutely nothing, except earning the hate.

Everyone starting with Cheryl at registration, Amanda, my nurse, Dr. Mitchell/ great bedside manner, and my discharge person whom I did not get her name. EVERYONE was a10. Very professional, caring, and right on top of things.
I forgot radiology/ Very sweet young lady.
I was an employee at an Ascension hospital for 26 years, so THANK YOU ALL for being a remarkable team. I'm glad to rate this a 10. ❤️

The triage nurses and the doctor was excellent. But when my son had to have a chest xray the technician was very rude. My son has autism and adhd so you have to explain things to him. She didn't give us a chance to let her know this information b4 she got rude with him because he couldn't hold his breath for part of the xray. Now I understand everyone has bad days but I was extremely disappointed since we were there because of an asthma attack and when he has these issues we choose to go to the closest er.

The Dr. Was amazing. DR. COLE! The wait time was not bad at all. One nurse was awesome. I wish I had got her name. I will tell you, the discharging nurse, Susan was extremely rude and disrespectful. I asked questions concerning what otc meds that could be taken with the given steroid injection and she literally rolled her eyes at me and gave a deep sigh, like she was totally disgusted. I'm sorry not everyone is medically intelligent. I was just trying to confirm, if any meds would interact with the steroid, so we would not be dealing with an overdose. Maybe, someone can teach this nurse patient manners.

Had to have a visit tonight due to me shooting a 15 mm nail in my hand. Normally dread going to Blount ER but my registered nurse was AMAZING! got in quick, was seen quick. I would recommend my nurse I had to everyone, if you ever have to go to Blount ER, you better ask for RN Whitney!
She was super helpful and very GREAT at her job! Made me feel comfortable, helped walked me through the whole “hole in my hand” treatment and was VERY KIND AND SWEET! I have no clue what they pay her, but I doubt it is enough! One of the best nurses I’ve ever dealt with in my 29 years of visiting ER’s. So if Whitney reads this, thank you so much and keep being AMAZING!!!

I had to take my husband today to blount county ER and his nurse CAROL was amazing!! Hands down one of the best nurses we've ever seen! She took such good care of him and was super nice! Carol if you read this you are amazing and thank you so much for everything today!! Also this lady deserves a raise!!

Due to the snow and ice we've had, I fell and broke my leg. Through the past years I wouldn't send my animals to this hospital. But went yesterday to the ER and EVERYONE was amazing. From the security to the lady at the desk, then to the nurses and the doctor. Don't wanna leave out radiology! They were all very polite, great bedside manner along with informative. So thankful they have gotten mostly all new employees and a wonderful bunch of folks. Thanks to all of you, very grateful. Debbie Ballew Turner🙂

My husband suddenly started having severe abdominal pain tonight, so we went to this ER. They got him back and assessed him very quickly. They did tests and scans and found several kidney stones. They prescribed a good treatment plan to help the stones, and made sure his pain was under control by the time we left. They were very kind and thorough and we appreciate them so much!
