I was grossly mistreated by Paula Rauschkolb who passed my very real multiple sclerosis off as a psychiatric condition leaving me in a position where I almost checked myself in to the psychiatric hospital. My left leg became paralyzed while I was in her care and she refused to come to any other conclusion than all of my symptoms were caused by a comorbidity psychiatric conditions. I see a psychiatrist and it has been professionally confirmed that my symptoms are, in fact, not caused by my psychiatric conditions. She did not preform the appropriate tests before ruling the proper diagnosis out and the single test that she did order had more than enough evidence coupled with my history and a physical exam, (which Paula never did) to properly diagnose me. I have since been paralyzed again. I have permanent damage and experienced an excruciating amount of pain, all of which was completely avoidable if she hadn’t failed to properly diagnose and treat me. She even had the opinion of Dr Livingstone (a specialist in the area of my disease) spend 5 minutes in the ER with me when he did a physical examination and concluded that he thought I needed proper diagnostics for multiple sclerosis. I have many serious traumas associated with the mistreatment I have received from numerous doctors at VVMC and I would never advise anyone to seek help from this facility.

I was very disappointed with the care i recieved. I feel like i was not listened to and was just treated as number and not a real person with real feelings. It took me over 2 years to finally get April to take my symptoms serious and get some testing done. She was focused on only one diagnoses and when it wasn't that diagnoses she just wanted to wipe her hands clean of me. She told me she was so scared for me and my symptoms until it came back not ms and then she didn't seem to care or be worried about me at all. She seemed to always want to just rush through our appointments and never really listen to what was going on with me. Also, found out their office doesnt allow you to see a different neurologist in their office to get a 2nd opinion. Was told they don't do 2nd opinions. Overall i would not recommend April Schleier to anyone i know. I have multiple people i know that saw her that feel the same way about her.
