From the moment we stepped into Veterinarian Cancer Specialists of New England, we felt genuinely cared for. The unique one-on-one approach they utilize, where only one appointment is scheduled at a time, ensures that your pet receives undivided attention. Our Boxer pup was treated like the priority, with no other pets in the building at the same time.

Dr. Abbo was exceptional. He came out to personally explain all the options and treatments he recommended. He took extra time answering every question we had, leaving us feeling informed and never rushed. Their compassionate care and professionalism were truly impressive. We highly recommend Veterinarian Cancer Specialists of New England to anyone looking for specialized and attentive care for their pets. Our experience was beyond excellent!

We will forever be grateful for Dr. Abbo and his staff. When our dog Luna was diagnosed with lymphoma they got us in ASAP and presented us with options with compassion and without judgement. They always made us feel like we were their only priority each time we had a visit and we never had a doubt that Luna was getting the best care possible, especially hearing her tail wag while getting her chemo from the waiting room. They loved on Luna’s brother Bruce who would come for the ride with us and always gave him cookies. Without fail each visit Dr. Abbo asked about our new baby and how the dogs were doing with her. We will cherish the memories we have of Luna thanks to the extra time that was given to us from Dr. Abbo and his team.

We have been going to VCS since August of 2023 after our pup Bo was diagnosed with lymphoma. I was so frustrated with the waitlists that most oncologists had that I decided to explore options even further from us (we live in Salem, MA) and that is when I came across VCS. They had no waitlist and at that point I would have done anything to get Bo help! We made the 2 hour drive down to Buzzards Bay and haven’t stopped since. After meeting the techs and Dr. Abbo, it was a no brainer that I would continue to get Bo care at VCS even if it was a 4-5 hour round trip drive. You are always the only patient in the office at your appt time which allows for a very comfortable space not only for your animal but also you as you embark on a journey that can be very emotional! I have felt nothing but true compassion and respect from the VCS staff! Bo usually HATES vet offices yet every time we pull up to VCS he is eagerly running inside and even makes his own way into the back room for his treatments because he is so comfortable there and the staff truly loves on him like he is their own!! I don’t wish a cancer diagnosis on any pet but if you are dealing with this you won’t regret going to VCS. They’ve made a hard experience feel a little lighter! Bo is now in remission and we still go every 4-6 weeks for his check ups.

I called to ask about chemo costs for a pet that just went through tumor surgery. While I understand they cannot provide an exact number, I simply asked if they would be willing to ask their doctor if they could email costs for chemo. I explained that I had already spent over nine thousand dollars to get his tumor removed. Their consultation is $275; I explained my worry was I would pay this upfront cost and be told my bill is over $5,000, which I cannot afford with how much money I have already paid. I asked if there was any way they'd be willing to ask the doctor if they could accommodate $5000 or under. The front desk lady responded with a crazy attitude, "Nope, it's not something he does." I was asking for a piece of humanity. You have someone calling trying desperately to afford all their pets' cancer costs, and you aren't even willing to ask the doctor if he could provide it? If she had been willing to at least ask for me and he said no, I wouldn't be writing this, but the immediate attitude and tone was unnecessary. I am fighting to pay my bills and cure my cat's cancer. My advice is to teach your employees to have humanity. They lack it severely.

Edit to owner's response: Your receptionist rudely barking at me because I respectfully asked if it was possible to pass my information along to the Dr if possible is "mean-spirited." You did not address any of the points in my post. Had she respectfully responded to me, I wouldn't have written this. The other receptionist I spoke to for oncology was EXTREMELY empathetic. She ,too, stated it is hard without a consultation to give pricing but let me know how sorry she is we are in this tough position where we are struggling financially with vet bills. Your receptionist could have easily spoken in this gentler and kinder way. I stated numerous times to her I understood an exact number cant be provided immedately. Charging people hundreds of dollars for them to even find out if they can afford the procedure is inhumane.

We found out our 10 year old golden retriever, Ellie, had an agressive form of cancer shortly after morning to Boston from Texas, which was absolutely devastating. We decided to explore treatment options with Dr. Abbo, and we appreciated that he was realistic, but also compassionate, to the situation at hand. He provided solutions that accommodated us without judgment, he explained everything thoroughly, and he and his team have been helpful every step of the way. You can tell he puts his animal patients and their humans first with great care. Ellie began chemo treatment in September 2022 and as of today, February 2023, she is doing better than we could have imagined. We are so very thankful to have her for this extended amount of time, with gratitude toward the team at Veterinary Cancer Specialists of New England. We highly recommend their services (and noting it’s worth the drive if you’re not in Cape Cod!). Thank you, Dr. Abbo!

We were devastated when we found out our beloved 8 year old dog had cancer. But then I found Veterinary Cancer Specialists of New England and the care and services they provided were the best thing that could have happened to us in the face of that awful diagnosis. We are so grateful to them for patiently and thoroughly explaining all of our options, the costs, and potential outcomes, completely without pressure or any judgement. I am so grateful that we had a way to take the best possible care of our beloved Falkor, and give him the best life we could, and that we had extra time with him. He didn't even seem to mind going into their office that much, when normally he's a mess at his regular vet.I cannot recommend this wonderful team enough. We drove over an hour to get to the clinic (which was right off the highway - very convenient) and it was so worth it for the care we received. Our family will be forever grateful to the Veterinary Cancer Specialist of New England.

The bottom line is that things are not great if you have bring your pet to an oncologist but read the bio online. It is all very true in our experience. Dr. Abbo and his team greet you with easily understood information, patience, and empathy. They bend over backwards to make sure you understand that asking millions of questions is never a problem. They came highly recommended by Dr.s in the veterinary field inside and outside of Massachusetts. And like everyone says, they must have the best damn dog treats ever made! Fin looooves dr Abbo❤️
