Overall, my experience with West Melbourne Health and Rehab was quite poor. Not once in the two weeks my mom was there was I able to get her doctor on the phone, more often than not when I would try to call the line would be put on hold and ring for upwards of 30 minutes. When my mom was discharged, neither her physician or his assistant were notified and she was released with only 3 days of blood pressure stabilization medication. I was told she had enough for several weeks, and that it was all vitamins - not true. I asked to either schedule a phone call with her physician when she was being released or to see someone when I was there and I was denied, stating there 'isn't really much to know, she just needs to be reminded to use her walker and get her a shower chair'. I was given no instructions on her medication when I picked her up, a nurse stating to just 'follow the instructions' meanwhile she was sent with numerous medications, and again not all the right amounts. She had one medication that I had to take her blood pressure before giving to her, and I only found this out after calling 3 times, being told I would get a call back but never getting one. And 'there's no physician on the floor so there's nothing they can do'. I finally was able to get some assistance after 4 days of outreach, and I will be leaving a separate review for those individuals.
Edit: it will not allow me to leave a positive review for Sherry and Leo separately, so I am adding it in here. Once they realized that my mom was discharged without proper medications, they were very helpful in making sure that she was able to get what we needed. Without them, my mom may have had to go to the ER as she is sometimes unable to maintain BP. I give them 5 stars all the way.
I am not one to leave google reviews, but my moms health and safety is critically important and I don't recommend sending anyone you love here.
My mom did say most of the nurses were very kind to her, but did have to file a report based on bad treatment she witnessed for her very old and not cognitively aware roommate.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about West Melbourne Health & Rehabilitation and the dedicated staff who pour their hearts into the well-being of their patients. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was met with warmth, understanding, and genuine care.
The team at this facility is more than just highly skilled medical professionalsāthey become an extension of their patients' families, providing not only expert care but also kindness and compassion that truly make a difference.
My 93-year-old mother had recently fallen and broken her hip when we arrived at West Melbourne Health & Rehabilitation. Naturally, I was apprehensive about entrusting her care to people I didnāt know, especially given the unfortunate stories of neglect that often surround skilled nursing facilities. However, my fears were quickly put to rest when I saw firsthand the exceptional care she received.
Sheri Albritton, RN, Nurse Manager, leads with a commitment to quality and patient safety, ensuring that any concerns are addressed immediately and that every patient feels secure and well cared for. The nursing teamāTina Davis, Heidi, Debbie, and Andrea Bāwent above and beyond to provide my mother with excellent care, making her feel truly valued and supported.
Their efforts were complemented by an outstanding team of CNAs, including Marie, Sandy, Kangey, and Rose, who displayed kindness, patience, and attentiveness in every interaction. Their compassionate approach made all the difference in my motherās recovery, and for that, we are incredibly grateful.
To the entire teamāthank you for making what could have been an incredibly difficult time so much easier. Your dedication and warmth do not go unnoticed. While we hope to visit again only as guests, should we ever need your services in the future, we wouldnāt hesitate to return.
With deepest appreciation,
Ana

Came here to recover from surgery. Though my stay was short , my wife and I could not be more satisfied. Staff was terrific and the dietary department did their best to accommodate my special diet. Paying the extra $25 per day for a private room was well worth it.

My husband came to this rehab on a last minute decision after having shoulder surgery. The staff greeted us with open arms. They were so good to my husband. His stay was short because the OT and PT staff was able to get his strength back quickly, so he could go home with me.

I was sent here from the hospital for rehab due to fracturing my femur and my hip. I'm actually still here, when I first got here I was scared and nervous but as soon as I got here everyone was extremely nice and made me feel at home certain ones that stand out for CNAs are Rosemene and sandy. Tina really stands out as a nurse she's taken really good care of me. Sheri the nurse manager is amazing, she is loyal, compassionate, caring and really cares about all of her patients and if something needs to get fixed or needs to be done she takes care of it right away! Sheri goes above and beyond they are very lucky to have her here. I would recommend anyone to bring their family here they will be well taken care of! Thank you again for the wonderful care that I'm receiving here.
Sincerely, Janice Butler

My dad who has late stage dementia has been staying at this facility for a little over a month. In that month he has fallen twice both needing to be transported to the hospital.
However today, at 11 am he had a severe fall. My mother went to go visit him around 5 pm and discovered this.
They had not reached out to her, nor had they transported him to the ER. As they were āobservingā him. Observing the massive black eye, or the cut on his lip?
Finally they transport him to the hospital (6 plus hours after the incident) and turns out he has a brain bleed and is requiring an overnight stay and also has a trauma team. This is absolutely RIDICULOUS and there is NO excuse. They tried telling my mom her āphone didnāt workā then why not try the secondary emergency contact or better yet 911?
I hope no one sends their loved ones here.

I have been visiting West Melbourne Health and Rehab with my therapy dogs since 2004. We always have a very rewarding visit with residents and staff! The activities director blows her calendar out of the water! If someone says they are bored, they just haven't looked at the calendar. There is something for everyone, and if there's something that you want that you don't see just mention it to her, and I bet Pamela will make it happen.
Some Hospice of Health First volunteers have been visiting every month to do a Spa Day. I usually bring the dog, as she is always a good icebreaker. I love spa day because I can get to know the residents better as opposed to walking around with the dog. We polish their nails and enjoy chit chat. Pamela has spa music playing, mocktails and it's just a wonderful environment. I recognize some of the staff as long-term employees since I have been going there for 20 years. That says a lot!
