My experience here has been mixed. The staff, on the whole - excluding the emergency room doctor, have been outstandingly helpful and caring. However, the hospital itself is definitely showing its age—it's rundown, to say the least. When it comes to food, though, the real comedy begins. The hospital asks if you're satisfied with the meal you selected, but here's the kicker: you're never actually given the chance to select anything. And as for portions? Think quail egg, not dinner plate. The carbs they serve could fuel a small army, but according to the American Diabetes Association, I should be getting 130 carbs a day—definitely not 300. It's clear they don't prioritize their patients' diets.

On top of that, hygiene leaves much to be desired. I’ve been here for a week, and not once have they changed the sheets, even though they've got blood stains. In other hospitals, they’d at least bring you a non-watering soap material to clean yourself, but not here. It feels like they’re cutting corners everywhere. I wouldn’t come back unless my insurance company was too cheap to send me to a better hospital."

Came because of passing a kidney stone came in the hospital with a pain level 10 the morning shift were very good at what they do checking in on me making sure I was ok the the PA that helped me in am shift left but came to me room to tell me she was going home and another PA was taking over a Lauren Diab PA-C well I can tell you she never went in to see me and the night shift nurse didn't come in to introduce herself or check on my pain I ended up getting up from my bed to make sure that people knew I was in the room when the patient rushed up and said we are waiting for your CT to be read I told her I was in pain that they gave me to doses of morphine pain medication and she told me we don't have anything stronger I didn't ask her for anything stronger I told her I was in pain and if there was more pain medication she could give me again she said we don't have anything stronger I don't know if she is hearing things or what but I didn't ask for stronger I just told her the pain medication was helping anyway I was sent back to my bed to wait she came back and told me they didn't see a kidney stone but I had blood in my urine so no infection then I asked her if I would be able to get more morphine and some Tylenol together and she told me we gave you 2 doses I think you are having muscle spasms that is why you are in pain so what is the blood in the urine anyway I told her well my pain is still really bad should I go to another er and she said why and I told hery pain it still hurts I came in with a 10 and leaving with a 10 so I want to go to another emergency room which I am about to do I have my CT scan results and blood work so I will take the paperwork with me but I can tell you night shift has a very very bad bedside manner and Lauren Diab PA-C is rude has no bedside manner I hope the universe sends someone to you or a family member and they treat them or you like you treated me and say well you look like you are not in a lot of pain and no we don't have anything else stronger here is some Tylenol and some muscle relaxers for that pain you have I really really hope the universe pays you and yours in full!!!!! If any patient decides to come here please come during morning shift they will treat you better then night shift

We have come to this hospital numerous times for my grandma. The nursing staff is so incredibly kind and attentive, and they always make sure that we have everything we need. My grandma feels so well taken care of here; way better than queen of the valley! Thank you so much to the doctors and nurses who help make her visits pleasant and comfortable! 🙏🏼♥️

Whittier Hospital Medical Center has gone above and beyond for me as a patient coming into their emergency room under great challenges. They were able to jump over obstacles to make sure that i recieved the best care while in the hospital and most challenging, going home safely. I would like to recognize key staff although I may not remember everyone nor in any specific order.
Martel-discharge coordinator
Jorge Social Services and Kevin. Martel, Jorge, Kevin and others worked tirelessly to coordinate what I needed in order to go home safely and they made it happen.
The nurses assistants are angels- Elvia, Maria, Lupe, Kristy, Erika and others. These ladies and other angeles were amazing and able to preserve my dignity as I am unable to managed my basic needs. They are angels in the true sense of the word 💜
While at the hospital I was fortunate to have had the best RN's attending and managing my needs and again I apologize if I missed anyone and this is in no specific order. MJ, Laura, Melanie, Amy, Li, Luis and Chouna. Last but by no means last, Meg and Lisa, amazing Physical Therapists that dedicated their time and care to make sure I am able to maneuver life at home with a broken femor and arm ❤️
I believe that the care provided is a reflection of what the hospital is about when it comes to patient care. Whittier Hospital and the community it servers are in good hands with their staff.

My mother and my son have been patients at this hospital in the last two months. Our family got the best of care while there. The nurses checked on my mother and son often. The hospital was able to help save my 87-year old mom from two infections. They responded quickly if we needed help. The doctors and nurses checked my son's incision and carefully watched for infection coming back. He had emergency surgery from intestinal and colon infection. They took care of him right away. Antibiotics first, then surgery the next morning. I thank them all for their excellent care.

Worst hospital ever!! My dad is in this hospital - the care that he has received is the worst I've ever seen him had. The nurses have no communication with doctors or with prior nurses when they switch mid day. The doctors have no idea what meds have been given or what treatment has been given to the patient. I've asked multiply times what's going on - or what form of action is going on an no answer is ever given to me - or a half ass remark.
Doctors are no were to be found....
It's like they don't exist or they can't be reached at all - they always have an excuse 🙄
My dad hasn't gotten better , testing has been done but waiting hours for random blood draws or scans then a few hours to get results - after constant asking for updates is absurd.
This place seems to care more about how much money they can drain out of their insurance.
Most of the staff is outside gossiping and not paying attention to their patients.
There are a few good apples but most of them need to be fired.
I'll be looking to filling a grievance and after 24-48 would be looking to moving my dad to another location.

The Emergency staff are great. Very patient. Highly recommend over Whittier PIH, PIH made my 90 year old mother wait in the waiting room more than 12 hours with a broken femur.

My wife and I had an amazing experience at this hospital. Dr. Vouis at the Labor and Delivery department was very helpful, patient and professional during this experience he was very understanding that we are new parents and were in need of a lot of help. All the nurses were amazing, but a special shoutout to Nurse Doris from the postpartum department , she brings in a good vibe, was very kind to us and made us feel like at home. And she was very knowledgeable and we learned everything we needed from her within only 20 minutes. I highly recommend this hospital!
